Yea there's no comparison. If the Bills could've got some of those Super Bowls in the 90's i'd compare them to them. But they didn't so I can't lol. I guess the only comparison is they both were dynasty's and while the Spurs do have talent and have probably the best power forward to ever play......the Cowboys teams were far more stacked than the Spurs were/are.

I don't know if a team has ever been like the Spurs over the last 15 years... not dominant enough to be a dynasty, but good enough to be in contention most years and basically win a championship once every 3 years.

5 rings in 15 years? Making the playoffs every year? If that's not a dynasty then I don't know what is. I guess they didn't get 5 rings in 5 years but that's a dynasty. Especially in the salary cap/free agent/luxury tax era. It was a lot easier back when guys were signing 1 million a year contracts.

Knew there was only a matter of time before a thread like this pops up.. lol

Been reading FB posts and articles all day about the Spurs now the top team in Texas, etc. *shrug*

Good team, but folks seem to be manufacturing some sort of disrespect towards them as if they weren't a well-respected team. Weird.

What would be the NFL equivalent of getting Belinelli, Mills and Diaw to come play for peanuts? And having your QB and WR sign for 8 and 5 million respectively? :)

Over an 8 year span or so, the Bulls >> Spurs. But 15 years of consistency is great stuff.

Still, the Celtics and the UCLA Bruins dwarfed what the Spurs did. Not even remotely close.

But that was a totally different era, obviously.

As far as wins-losses in the last 15 years in Texas, the Spurs are tops.
As far as world-wide franchise popularity> Cowboys>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Spurs.

The Spurs Got bad at the right time... First David Robinson then 10 years later Tim Duncan.. good teams know when to suck... Ask Indy...

As a die hard Spurs fan, the joy and adulation I feeling right now, and the past 4 championships, will have to hold me over until my Cowboys can win one. I feel bad for those people who have never experienced their teams winning a championship.

It's all how you look at it, I guess.

I always subtract points because of the Lakers.

The Lakers had 5 championships and 2 finals appearances in 10 years, smack dab in the middle of that Spurs' run.

*The Lakers' 3 peat from 2000-2002 is what separates the first two spurs championships '99 and '03.

*LA went to the Finals in '04 (separating the Spurs 2003 and 2005 championships) going through SA on the way.

*Then LA won the western conference 3 straight years on two separate occasions-- SA has just now been to back to back finals, has never won back to back championships, largely because of the Lakers early on.

You're lucky!

As a Mavs fan, just got a slice of that to keep my sanity over the massive disappointment of being an all Dallas sports fan.

The Spurs do not buy championships, they are not the yankees of the NBA. They win championships with humility and dignity, the Heat are the Yankees of the NBA and try and purchase a title.
Pop didnt even step into the lime light when the trophy was handed out, he stood back in the crowd and let the owner take all the glory.

It's not just the 6 titles in 8 years that made them better.

It's pretty obvious if Jordan didn't leave for baseball for a couple years the Bulls very likely would have won 8 straight titles but you also have to factor in that before they won the title they also made the Eastern Conference Finals for two straight years prior to making it to the Finals so they played in 5 consecutive Eastern Conference finals and 8 of them in 10 years. That's about as good and consistent as a team can be.

That's not a knock on the Spurs cause 5 titles over 15 years, and what 6 or 7 Finals appearances, along with making the playoffs over and over is dang fine work.

They are the class of the NBA, without a doubt, since the Bulls run. I'd have to admit that obviously the Lakers are in that conversation as well because they had a pretty good Championship run as well but I'd give the nod to the Spurs over them.
