20 year Mavericks fan but have nothing but respect for the Spurs. They are our rivals, for a while they had our number, then we had theirs, they have ours again but the Mavericks are the team that made the Spurs sweat in the post season this year. Not sure how anyone can hate them - great, unassuming coach, organization that does it right in the draft and free agency, dedication to a system over a player, and the players they do have leave it on the court, not a turd in the entire punch bowl. Yes, it helps to have Duncan but he hasn't been the best player in the game for ages now, and they are still winning. Shows what a quality organization can do. It does, in fact, remind me of the pre-Jones Cowboys, the Landry era, well coached, great players, and a system that just produced constant chances to win it all. Easier to do in the NBA with a smaller roster but nonetheless...

The Spurs are nothing compared to any other franchise. 15 years from their first to last title is unheard of. They won as a team and didn't count on just one or two players.

Its awesome to be a fan of two teams that both have 5 trophies to display. Now its just time for my Astros to win one.

Are the Spurs to the NBA what the Cowboys were to the NFL in the 60&70s?

Would you like to see the boys run like that, is that even possible?

The Spurs have been and are being run infinitely better than the Cowboys are in this day and age. There was a time in history when the Cowboys were run in an extremely capable manner, as we all know. Unfortunately, that time has come and gone. The Cowboys' organization is prosperous, which is good. Unfortunately, the team is mired in the mud of mediocrity, which isn't good at all.

The team isn't destined to be managed anywhere nearly as well as the Spurs are as long as Jerry Jones and his family manage it as they do now. Jerry would be obliged to vacate his post as GM for a Spurs-like stability to be feasible. Sadly, competent management doesn't appear destined to come to fruition as long as the current structure remains intact.

17 years of legitimate title contention year in and year out. That's unmatched by any sports franchise in today's modern era. Spurs have had a shot at the title for almost two decades. I was there when Fisher hit the miraculous shot with .04 seconds on the clock in critical game 5. Manu's bone head foul on dirk at the basket in game 7. Ray Allens 3 to tie up game 6 last year. This team could very well have 7-8 rings. Woulda, coulda, shoulda right? My point is for as long as I've been watching sports (mid 80's) no team can match that. Not the Lakers, bulls, Yankees, patriots etc... Its been a privilege to be apart of that as a fan. I wish the Cowboys had half the leadership the Spurs organization has, they would be much more enjoyable to watch. The team is not only committed to the team, they're equally committed to the fans. I live in Dallas and tried getting tickets to the Spurs/mavs series. Ticket prices were outrageous. I drove to sa for finals game against the heat. Mid level seats for 150 bucks. I haven't been to a cowboys game in awhile... Can u even park for that price? Dont get me wrong I love the Cowboys, it's just nice rooting for a franchise that gives back as much as you put in.
