How can we have a stadium concerns thread and not talk about whether punts will hit the scoreboard?

The only difference in the amount of exposed concrete between the old and new stadium is that the new one is bigger and there's field level suites. Other than that? There really isn't a difference.

oh my GOD... needed that pic for perspective... looks insanely puny comparatively

I know right? I know there was a lot of history made at Texas Stadium, but that place was a dump. The new place isn't even playing the same game.

Notice that the guys trying to hit it are kicking the ball straight up, not 60 yards downfield (which is about how far in the air a 48-yard punt travels).

Regarding the gist of this thread ... looking at some of the artist renderings that were released a few years ago, some had the seats in some sections painted bright, royal blue and the seats in other sections painted silver. It looks better than the dull blue they all ended up being.

Also, the walls at field level in the end zones currently are bare concrete. During the soccer game, they were partly covered with advertising banners. In the old artist renderings, they're painted royal blue, which obviously looks better. They'd look infinitely better if they were blue with white stars, like the old Texas Stadium walls.

I agree with the OP that the stadium needs more Cowboys-centric decoration, at least for Cowboys games. Hopefully Jerry realizes this, too.

The Cowboys are moving into the Taj Mahal of sports stadiums and people are talking about it looking "cheap."

As has been mentioned MANY times, it's not completed, but even if it was, it's still better than any other stadium IN THE WORLD.

Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth.

I couldn't agree more....bunch of whiners, Gee what's next, there's too much glass in the stadium.

Nothing about Jerry Jones says "plain concrete walls" period. I'm sure Jerry has an ace in the hole that he's waiting to reveal to the masses on our home opener.

It will be nothing short of spectacular, guaranteed.

I have no doubt that Jerry will have it spruced up for the games. I am atleast hoping that... as the camera shots reminded me of that drab looking stadium that the Arizona Cardinals play in.

I agree with your point about all of the exposed concrete... looks horrible and just plain cheap to be honest

anyone know of any plans to cover that crap?

If you're talking about the concrete between the levels, those are lighted all around the stadium, like you see in basketball and hockey arenas. So there will be something showing, possibly lighted stars traveling around the stadium. Kind of like a video board encircling the stadium.

I'm sure there will be much more too this on opening night.....believe me, it will not be boring.

also with all the other events going on there. They aren't going to put out all the football things yet. Get the concerts and soccer games over with first.

Um, the Taj Mahal is a tomb. An incredible example of architecture, but a tomb nonetheless.

Other then field level theres a lot of ribbon lights that aren't in use right now.

The pictures don't do it justice. The place is beautiful and probably still has a few touches to go down. Just actually having a field that shows off the Cowboys will help alot and make the stadium look even bigger. Remember that soccer field takes up most of the surface on the floor.
