Just heard Fowler on 1053 the fan say they talked to the Panthers about a Micah trade but they didn’t want to part with Derrick Brown…..they aimed high but teams weren’t budging because they didn’t want to spend 47 million and trade compensation….

But hypothetically….do you feel better about a 1st rounder and Derrick Brown fit Micah? Or 2 1sts and Kenny Clark?

I’d rather have the Panthers deal in a second due to the picks almost definitely being higher, but trading for Parsons makes no sense if you’re them.

People are moaning over not getting enough, but exactly how many teams were out there who were willing to trade multiple firsts, a top player, and also pay Micah a record deal immediately?

I’m just happy Jerry and son know who Derrick Brown IS.

As a team trading for Micah, it only made sense if you had a young QB and thought you were a player away. No team like the panthers would trade for him because of contract will be crippling. So when people complain it's going to be a late first rounder, that's all they were going to get.

I would've taken two firsts and a third from the Panthers over what we got. You don't get the player that way but you get high draft picks. But Jerry couldn't sell that to the common fan as easily.

I been saying, most likely not many teams were willing to part with 2 - 1st round picks, or more, and a decent player.

GB may have been the only team. Ot I was 1 - 1st round, maybe 2 - 2nd rounds, and a lower level player.
This team already has too many lower level players fro FA on 1 year deals.

I am sure more trade talks / offers will come out over time.

Well that was my biggest thing. Did they do their due diligence. And they were adamant on getting a DT so they know the importance of the position….or maybe they just found out lol. Either way I’m glad they at least know now lol.

And yeah I don’t believe the compensation was gonna be as high as people think. He said some teams like the Chiefs inquired but didn’t want to spend that money. It was a small list of teams.

And good point about Panthers. More than likely a top 10 pick. One top 10 pick vs 2 1st rounders that will be later? Tough.

And I think that’s what happen. We saw the best deal and it’s the one they accepted.

Depends on the fan. Jerry would not need to sale anything.
Many fans are happy they addressed the DT need. Some would have like Gary as a pass rusher. Some wanted more picks.

I would have been fine with either trade. If it would d have been that 3rd round pick over a player.
Then we recoup the 3rd we gave for Pickens, and as posted, all 3 would be higher picks most likely.

I am still fine with the way it is now as well.

Yeah I think they wanted to help this years team. So they wanted the DT.

Probably right, and I’d have taken that also….because it was from a team where the picks have a real chance at being top 5-10.

Gotta remember that this team is Jerry and Stephens version of “win now,” so they wanted a player in return.

Brown is better and younger. Not sure they could have gotten two firsts as well as Brown.

If it were Brown, a first, a second, and a third, it’s probably more comparable. Maybe a first and two seconds.

Well I think Panthers do it but the compensation wouldn’t be as much as a team like the Packers. They weren’t giving two 1sts and Derrick Brown. Maybe 1 first? They they view Derrick Brown as their Micah. It only makes sense to get Micah with Derrick Brown.

I think DB and a 1st and a 3rd. Fowler didn’t dig too deep into why they couldn’t get a deal just said they didn’t want to part with Brown. So maybe even a 1st and Brown wouldn’t have been offered. They are high on Brown.

Derek Brown and a 1st. Brown is an elite DT. That Panthers first could be high.

However I will say the 2027 class could he historic. So that pick might be the most valuable thing we got.

Tough question

In August, not many. In March, more. THAT'S the issue. No plan and emotional reactionary moves.

Parsons and Brown on the same defense would help Carolina do a quick 180 in what seems to be a pretty weak division year after year.

That said I'd probably take a 1st rounder and Brown if Carolina would have done that. Brown is just too good a player to pass up and you likely get a higher 1st rounder for 2026.

Even though they are all over the place with their supposed plan, and did virtually nothing to address an ongoing problem (stopping the run, and they did not anticipate trading Parsons), I just suddenly have much more confidence as a fan when the narrative (for this month at least) is about run stoppage to be important. It’s in their brains somewhere. That helps.

Who is Fowler, and where does he get his information?

Derrick Brown is a monster. Would have liked to have him instead. Good on the Cowboys for trying.
