Cowboys talked to the Panthers about trading for Micah

Yeah Panthers are still reeling from trading two 1sts for Bryce Young….you would get 1 first from Panthers I think they understand how bad they may be.

I disagree. The Cowboys walked themselves into that position over the virtue of a year and some change. They don’t get props for cleaning up their own mess.

How exactly did they walk themselves into that position? Micah's agent wouldn't let him sign a contract on par with contracts signed this off season. Do you really think he was going to let him sign one last offseason knowing who was coming up to help set the market?

Don't get me wrong, the Cowboys seem to make some things a lot more difficult than they should be but Parsons & his team clearly put the Cowboys in this position not the other way around.

Players & agents are causing more of this drama than the teams.

We have to keep in mind, this was a week before the season starts. Most, if not all teams' rosters are set. No way they can complete this kind of trade this late w/o being lucky enough to already have the cap space and capital or upsetting the roster. THIS is why I'm convinced Jerry def could have gotten better offers before the draft, whether last year or 2026.

Maybe instead of Clark they get a 3rd or 4th? Teams are capable of clearing the space to get Micah. I don’t think the list of teams grows that big. We know it’s the contenders who are even trying to get him.

I mean saying no to a trade would have meant one of two things. A) I'm going to shut up & play under my contract or B) We are going to sit you & still retain your rights & make your life difficult going forward.
Meanwhile other teams see how you are handling this and become apprehensive. Once you request a trade & one is worked out, no one is going to have any sympathy for trying to wiggle out of it.

It is more like, no the offer is not good enough. Why would he take a trade to a team offering $38 million, when the offer from Jerry fro $40 million.
Then there is singing bonus and guaranteed money.

I have always said that for a premiere player the Cowboys should be looking to get them signed early and if they can’t they should start looking for a trade while their value is highest. Their “waiting for more leaves to fall” strategy is nonsensical. Jerry Jones has literally stated multiple times he believes in waiting till the last minute. I also don’t agree with the notion that Parsons wouldn’t have signed after year three but we won’t know cause the Cowboys didn’t try to get a deal done then.

But is Hendrickson the player to put the defense over the top, and be contenders.
He is still on the last year of his contract. He would still cost you over $40 million per year next year. He is also older. They can wait and draft a top DE on a rookie contract.

I understand the argument for more pre-draft but that isn't the reality. The trade took place a week before the season, that's the lens it has to be viewed in.

They perhaps could’ve gotten an extra pick instead of Clark. But people are overestimating the amount of teams that would offer what Packers did. Especially st this time. People keep saying they should’ve traded him in March but they wanted to retain him in March.

Maybe I missed something but I took it that Carolina was willing to do an extension to his liking but the compensation to the Cowboys was the sticking point. My point being that he couldn't turn down a legit contract after requesting the trade.

On a side note, if no team will offer him as much or more than we offered, wouldn't that be a reason for us to lower our offer? It would indicate the player overvalued himself.

I was just throwing out other possibilities of how things may have went. A lot to consider.
We just can't assume it was all picks, players, same offer as GB made.
many other factors we are not privy to.

Yep. I just don’t get why now. They went all offseason…unless the plan was always to trade Micah to obtain that which takes some type of foreshadowing I don’t think they do.

If stopping the run is important to them, before the Clark trade….THATS what they were planning on running out there at DT this year??

I almost bet that Eberflus gave them some sort of sell job like Marinelli on how he can turn crap into gold, and that’s what they were counting on. Typical.
