Its a crying shame that we haven't utilized Hanna's speed since he's been here.

Keep spewing your garbage.

Go learn how to read and then find all of Hanna's draft profiles. All of them indicate he has potential as a pass catch TE and not a good blocker because he is weak at POA.

Yet we were able to develop him as a blocker. Guys can become better blockers. As that often isn't stressed for TEs in college. That's his ticket to a roster spot.

But instead let's try to develop him as a pass catcher. Poor route running, no on the field speed, alligator arming, catch even manage a catch a game in college players are really prime targets for such development.

Yes, let's develop him for a role that doesn't exist on this team for a backup TE.

I tip my hat to your single-minded focus on 40 times.

A player has speed and burst but no power and strength. Yeh, let's waste time and develop him as a blocker instead of developing him into a better receiver and a mismatch player . That's brilliant. They did the same thing with Escobar. JG's method of square peg in to round hole. Only a pea brain would think that makes perfect sense. I can see why you'd think it was the right thing to do.

While I agree with you on square pegging round holing Escobar, I disagree with Hanna. He's the best blocking TE we have and our run game's been missing him.

Yet they were correct and he developed into a good blocker.

I'm not discounting Hanna's ability to block. He was terrible blocker and considered too weak yet he was able to become a very good blocker. I'm questioning, why didn't they try to developed his receiving skills more as well.

This is from his rookie year. He flashed potential as a rookie to be a very good receiving TE but then you never saw him run these types of routes again.

If JG had any foresight, he could have developed into a great receiver.

Yes, let's try to develop a guy into a role he was terrible at in college and a role for which there really is not a spot on this team unless Witten is out.

Yet they spent time developing him into a role he was worse at in college. Brilliant.

No, a role that he was not asked to perform.

Regardless dude - he was developed into a good blocking TE. They were right in their evaluation.

Not surprise you think this way since you think JG can do no wrong.

Due to all the comments about Swaim being so slow, I looked up what his 40 time was. I was also curious about our other TE 40 times.

I was surprised with what I found. You would think Escobar would be one of the faster TEs but he is actually the slowest one on the active roster.

Hanna has/had WR speed when he was drafted. Why we didn't develop him more as a pass catching TE is mind boggling. I remember when he was drafted some here were hoping he turned into a A. Hernandez type of player. Instead, we turned him into a blocking TE.

The following are predraft numbers:

Swaim:
40 Low: 4.61 40 Time: 4.71 40 High: 4.82

Witten:
40 Low: 4.55 40 Time: 4.65 40 High: 4.76

Hanna:
40 Low: 4.33 40 Time: 4.43 40 High: 4.54

Escobar:
40 Low: 4.68 40 Time: 4.78 40 High: 4.89

Gathers:
40 Low: 4.72 40 Time: 4.79 40 High: 4.90

blocking TE are hugely important for Dallas especially when they go 11 personnel. We saw what happens in Game 1 against Giants when TE can't block effectively....its party for D in backfield.
