This is actually a pretty good argument...you are 100% right..

But there still are other major concerns w Murray..not just his speed

Yes but fans are obsessed because he isn't Barry Sanders. Other than fumbles, I have no concern about his game.

I like trading out of the first round in hopes of snatching Gurly in the second. Put him behind AP for a year or two and then let him run nuts. I don't think we can rely on him from the beginning just because of his injury

I'm sorry but that would be a waste of an early pick. You only get a draft pick for 4 years and we would waste 2 of them sitting behind Peterson. I don't think AD signs for only one year. If they sign Peterson they should use a much later pick on RB considering they still have Randle and RWilliams.

Let's see...the Cowboys (reportedly) put a four year, $16 million offer on the table for Murray in December that he declined. No running back in free agency last year got more than $3.5 million annually; though they're nowhere near Murray's caliber.

If I were the Cowboys; I'd offer him a two year deal worth maybe $11.5 million with playing time incentives. If that's not good enough, draft a back.

They dont have to cut him any time soon. They're holding all the cards.

Their cards are releasing him or having an RB sit and pay him big money. They're releasing him, and it will be on June 1st.

Releasing him on June 1st is the only rational thing to do.

Outside of last year, injuries have been an issue w him

Injuries, wear and tear from this past season, age over the life of the next contract, his lack of a 2nd gear in the open field. I don't know what his deal is when he breaks clear.

The smart move is to turn the page to the next back. The media and uninformed fans across the league will make a big deal about it. How can the Cowboys let the leading rusher go? They won't contend now! But 3 years from now people will look back and say signing Murray would have been a mistake, and as long as the Cowboys can find a quality back to replace him, they benefited from letting him go.

It's not just Murray vs. the RB who replaces him. But also what you do with the money you save not re-signing Murray.

Do not make the Marion Barber III mistake again.

He's not signing a two year deal.

Cowboys are playing Demarco's heart against him and buying time to see how the Peterson situation evolves.

I don't even recognize the Cowboys anymore. They are playing these things beautifully.

Just because he is testing FA , doesn't mean he won't resign lol.

He will be back.

Testing the market makes sense for both sides right now. Murray wants to see if he gets a crazy offer, Dallas wants him to get a sense of the market and then match it if they like what they see.

I think the RBs next year are Murry and a 2nd or 3rd round draft choice, plus the Undies Bandit.

How can you not explore the possibility of the best RB on the planet wearing your uniform next year?

Some people are very much against this. It's very confusing.

A bigger strong faster Demarco with better vision?

Yes please.

Maybe because of age. I admit, he's at the age where you don't know if he's still the same player but I would roll the dice for a year that he is.

Going to be very costly if you are wrong...I'm rolling the dice as well...

But let's not pretend like AD is signing some short term incentive laden contract...he will be expensive and will continue to be for multiple seasons

And just like chess you consider all the possibilities but do not know what the other player will do, even if what he should do is obvious to you.

There's about a 99% chance that Peterson will be a FA. He's not sticking with Vikings, he's said multiple times he would love to play for the Cowboys. Something tells me Peterson and his agent saw at least the day he'd be released from the Vikings and knew he needed to lay the foundations with another team.

Will he become a Cowboy? Who knows. But he will be on the market after June 1st. At that point, most teams in need of an RB will have grabbed one by then, so there won't be as much competition.
