I'm not interested in bringing Murray back...multiple reasons come to mind...but what really bothers me, is there were only 3 games last year where Murray had 40+ yard runs...

The guy isn't explosive enough for my liking...call me a nitpicker...but w a rb who can hit the home run, I feel like there are many explosive plays there to be had...

Yeah I am of the opinion to let him walk as well unless the price is right. Anything more that 3 yrs 6m per is too much. Murray at 30 will be a nice complimentary back, nothing more.

I'am not for bringing Murray back but keeping the chains moving is a bigger deal then flash plays IMHO

Yeah, less touchdowns and more wasted yards is what wins games!!!

If he's there at #27 do we take him?

No doubt, the only question is if Murray were gone, would Gurley be ready to go to start the season due to his injury.

Talent wise Gurley is a top 10 talent, that said Gordon may be more attractive in this scenario because he is ready to go and has the take to the house ability on any given down.

Gurley will be a BEAST once he gets healthy, so we certainly have options if Murray leaves in FA.

with this line, it's not very hard to move the chains

maybe so, I find it a little odd how I feel about Murray. His a damn good player and guy.
He just hit the market at the wrong time. I wouldn't bring in AP or any FA this draft is
as good at RB as its been in years. It might be a tad of a gamble but I'd go for the guy
I identify as the RB for the Cowboys and go it him. Young and cheap. Todays standards.

I guess we'll see.

Never really know on draft day but my guess is that somebody grabs that top 10 talent talent somewhere in the first, if he does slip into the second, somebody is getting a steal and perhaps something in his medical situation has teams worried.

It's probably the best thing for both sides. The market will set the price and either we will get him signed to a fair market value or he will go elsewhere and get paid more money then he would have here. It's the best thing IMO.

I dont think Murray is going to get many big offers. I think he will sign with IND because they will offer more then Dallas.

Injuries, wear and tear from this past season, age over the life of the next contract, his lack of a 2nd gear in the open field. I don't know what his deal is when he breaks clear.

The smart move is to turn the page to the next back. The media and uninformed fans across the league will make a big deal about it. How can the Cowboys let the leading rusher go? They won't contend now! But 3 years from now people will look back and say signing Murray would have been a mistake, and as long as the Cowboys can find a quality back to replace him, they benefited from letting him go.

It's not just Murray vs. the RB who replaces him. But also what you do with the money you save not re-signing Murray.

Do not make the Marion Barber III mistake again.

This is the big question here. What position is easier to fill in the draft? RB or a very good pass rusher? Signing Murray likely means no big time DE in FA and your drafting one. No Murray gives you the option to sign a very good DE in FA and draft a RB.

You can find a very good, possibly the top RB prospect at pick 27. At best you will be picking the 5-6 best pass rusher at 27. Also the fact is RBs are routinely drafted lower and have an easier, faster transition to the NFL and can have success. DE is one of the easiest positions to draft a bust at and is a much harder position to evaluate and translate into the NFL.
