Going to be very costly if you are wrong...I'm rolling the dice as well...

But let's not pretend like AD is signing some short term incentive laden contract...he will be expensive and will continue to be for multiple seasons

We don't know this. He just came out of a suspension, he had a year off from football, and he'll be a FA after most teams have already signed RB's or drafted their future RB.

I don't think Peterson is going to be as expensive as most think he will be. He certainly won't demand backup RB money, of course, but it'll be manageable.

I think it is good he is testing FA. Not sure what the market is going to be for him. Like someone mentioned, no one got more than $3.5 mil last year. Dallas offered $4 mil per season. Does anyone believe that the market is going to pay $9-$10 mil per season?

I think there is a lot working against him in FA. Deep draft for backs. He's a great fit for us, but I wonder how much teams view his production? Is the line? Is it Romo and his weapons? Also what happens with Lynch and AP are all factors.
I think that at least Dallas has a good relationship with him. And I think that he will bring an offer back for Dallas to match. We shall see.

How can you not explore the possibility of the best RB on the planet wearing your uniform next year?

He's 30 yo and his best year was 2012. Other than that he hasn't be the superman people want to make him out to be.
We really want to roll the dice on a 30yo RB?
To me, if not Murray go younger.

Thats why I would still draft a RB besides getting Peterson, just in case it doesn't work out and to have something for the future.

If he's all that expensive, I'm not interested. I want him to prove he wants to play in Dallas by taking less money and less years. Otherwise it's all talk. Anybody would go to the highest bidder.

Not unless it's on the cheap. No way do we need to give up draft picks, or big money to a 30 year old RB. No thanks!

He called the Cowboys stating this is where he wants to play. Okay, then prove it. Take a deal that may not be the biggest. I don't know what's "silly" about expecting a guy who is desperate enough to call the owner of the team to beg his way on the roster to give that team a discount to make it happen.

We should explore that. If he's all talk and just looking to go to the highest bidder, I'd look to the draft.

"a league source said at least one playoff team has indicated it would take on the running back's deal, as is"

Taken from this espn article on the vikes options w Peterson...

Doesn't mean it's true...but it just enhances my original thoughts that he won't be cheap....at all

Yeah, I call ******** until proven otherwise.

No team is taking on Peterson's contract knowing he will be released eventually.

What's silly is expecting the best rb in the NFL to take a significant discount to play here...sure, he wants to play here...doesn't mean he wants to play at a significantly cheaper price tag than somewhere else...

Discount? Yeah, sure....maybe a small one...

He isn't coming here for considerably less than somewhere else...he's going to cost 8-10MM a year...if he even hits the open market

Maybe because of age. I admit, he's at the age where you don't know if he's still the same player but I would roll the dice for a year that he is.

I'd rather pay him than Murray. Terrified of paying Murray big money.

I'm not interested in bringing Murray back...multiple reasons come to mind...but what really bothers me, is there were only 3 games last year where Murray had 40+ yard runs...

The guy isn't explosive enough for my liking...call me a nitpicker...but w a rb who can hit the home run, I feel like there are many explosive plays there to be had...

Exactly. I pray he leaves.

He probably figured Jerry would be Jerry.
