I'll disagree with you on both points, but whatever.

Adrian's the greatest in the history of the NFL (for rb's)? And at 30 is in his prime (when the season starts)?:

Yes. And Yes.

Look, there is no chart that measures who the greatest RB in the NFL is/was. Cases can be made. You can't say for sure either way because there is no way to prove it. That's obvious. To me however he is, that's just my opinion. And whether he's the best of all time or 2nd best or even "just" in the top 5 doesn't matter, that doesn't mean we shouldn't bring him in. I'll take Adrian in his prime over Sanders, Brown or Dickerson. And by the way, he's 29 AND he's had a year off. Nothing would suggest / prove that he's lost a step or anything like that, we haven't seen anything that would suggest that. I think he'll come back this year and be the same exact guy that almost broke the rushing record. Not for long of course. But I think he's got at least 2 elite years left in the tank. By the way, I doubt Murray has much more than 2 elite years left, he's not exactly a spring chicken either at age 27 if you consider how many touches he's had and his injury history.

He's 29, but will be 30 when season starts. And no, he isn't better than BSanders in his prime. Who cares anyways. He's a Viking.

To me he is, to you he isn't. That was my point. We don't know.

And I care. We need a RB. He wants out of Minnesota, JJ wants him, he wants to come home and play for us. Makes perfect sense.

That's nice he wants to come home. He has a home already in Minnesota.

He called the Cowboys stating this is where he wants to play. Okay, then prove it. Take a deal that may not be the biggest. I don't know what's "silly" about expecting a guy who is desperate enough to call the owner of the team to beg his way on the roster to give that team a discount to make it happen.

We should explore that. If he's all talk and just looking to go to the highest bidder, I'd look to the draft.

And if Jerry is smart, he'll understand that. If not, then all the praise that has been heaped on JJ of late should be resended.

And even if AP is released he isn't coming here cheap. I imagine there will be other teams out there wanting him. He's going to want to be paid.

Ahhh I'm not so sure about that, playing at home behind the best oline in the game and wearing the STAR carries a lot of weight.

He wouldn't be trying to force his release if money was a big issue. He'll be paid 15 mil. next season by the Vikings yet he wants out of there knowing damn well he won't be making anywhere close to 15 mil. next year if he signs with another team. So I doubt that plays a big role. His priority at this point is probably 1) being able to win a ring 2) playing in Dallas and 3) being on a good team that allows him to put up good numbers and be effective. All that points to the Cowboys. If it was up to him there is absolutely no way he ends up playing for somebody else than Dallas. No way he picks the Cardinals, Bills or whoever over the Cowboys, even if they do offer him a couple more millions. This is his last shot to win a ring, his dream probably to play for the Cowboys, in his prime, and to be able to win a ring here. Come on. The guy would have to be brain dead to say no to this opportunity and go somewhere else. The only thing that could "ruin" this is if we lowball him too much. He's not gonna play for the veteran minimum or on a 1 year deal, obviously.

Murray hasn't made the money AP has, this will be his 1st big contract. Big difference! Plus, Murray may re-sign with us depending on the market.

Peterson has already lost plenty of money last year and if he's released then he will lose some more. Maybe he's the one pro athlete that doesn't care about money. If we can get him cheap then okay. Also it depends when the Vikings release him. If they don't release him before the draft and we don't have Murray then we have to draft a RB. We can't go into next season with our backups.

They like him enough to have him still under contract and on the team.

And why would they release him right now? How does that make sense? They'll try to get this situation fixed somehow, if that doesn't work (which it won't, based on the latest reports/comments from him) they'll try to trade him. If that doesn't work they'll wait until the last minute before they release him. They'd just do him a favor by releasing him now.

I actually think Murray will resign with us, he really doesn't want to leave.
