Would like to have him back, but he probably won't sign another 1 year deal regardless of issues. Might have to offer a 2/3 year deal to keep another team from taking him.

A 1 year deal would actually be his best option. He could clean up his image with a solid season and be in line for a big contract next year.

A 1 year deal, or 2 to 3 year deal, just get him in here for now. A one year deal can be extended during the season if need be.

What does touched base mean? Did Jerry call him and say, "Yo, Ro, whassup? How's that arson thing going?"

Probably contacted agent to see what kind of inquiries they have been getting and to see what their asking price is.

Oh, I figured. I was just making a joke (apparently a bad one) about the use of "touched base," which can basically mean anything.

They're I talks w mcclain. I hope it's longer then one year. If he steps up and plays how we know he can he'd want a bigger deal next year

I wouldn't invest long-term with this guy... 2 with a team option for a 3rd.

Great news! If it were not for him we might have been 8-8 again! He saved our butts.

Please. Let's stay in the realm of reality, huh? The guy was injured almost as much as he was healthy.

If Carter gets 4-5m he is gone. I think the team would take him back below those levels, he is inconsistent but makes some big plays. I would've liked to have seen more blocked kicks.

If that's all it takes they should get it done. Carter based on potential and his season last year deserves a 4-5 million dollar contract. He lead us in INT's as a linebacker.

The biggest question is, will someone actually give him 4-5 million? Let's investigate.

Terrell Suggs gets 5.175 million per year... He hasn't earned Suggs money.

Manny Lawson got 3 million on his second contract. Same with Wimbley. I think The Cowboys probably want Carter for 2-2.5 million per year.

I think Carter is in a precarious place where he is probably worthy of starting, but isn't quite established enough to demand top 1 or 2 linebacker money, and most teams don't really break the bank for SLBs. So does he go to the 3-4? Will someone break the bank for him on the inside? Maybe New Orleans will.

Someone will pay Carter based on potential. IT never fails. That's free agency especially when you have Carter's age and skillset.

I saw that Fish on twitter said that they are currently negotiating with Rolando now.

He is the player on defense I most want back next year. Combining him with Lee will create a culture of defensive domination that will help us move towards the super bowl. They are defensive stars. If Lawrence can become a player like that too, it would be great.

You get McClain, Hardy, Sheard, Paea/Fairley, Tillman, and Cromartie and this team is all set.

How in the hell do you expect to pay for all of that? Come on man, be reasonable

Very much agree. RoMac is the only person on our defense who starts to enter into scary territory. I remember watching the 49ers D in the playoffs a couple years ago at their peak and thinking good god it looks like they have legit werewolves playing on their defense.

McClain is the only player on our squad who qualifies as a monster (though I'll admit I think he elevated Durant to mini wolf at times). The Defense needs someone to make the other guys look like little kids a couple times a game, even if it means he takes a play off or blows some underneath coverages.
