TRADED Cowboys trade for George Pickens and 2027 6th for 2026 3rd and 2027 5th

So if their plan is to re-sign Pickens that means say goodbye to Jake Ferguson.

Which I'm for but a lot of people really value him like a core player.

No way to tell until a player signs their next contract. It’s based on where the new contract falls in comparison to all other players at that position.

is Vita Vea available for a 3rd round pick? Jaylen Carter? Chris Jones?

A team makes the moves they need when they can.

There’s always some better dream out there there.
no, there is no better dream. its moves a GM makes to make the team ready for championship. not regular season success and early playoff exit as they have been and this move is just another one like that.

is Pickens going to make cowboys Superbowl worthy?

and so then keep the pick. trade up as you said and grab a defensive player in the 2nd. not get a one year rental and lose a draft pick.

This makes zero sense.

A 3rd for a one-year guy with major character issues on a team that isn't going anywhere this year anyway.
THIS ^^^^
Yep, we will sell more tickets and and this will create a buzz around the team.
But a 3rd for a one year rental with issues ?
This is not a long term good football decision.
This is a typical Jerry splash move.

They made the trade to improve their chances of going somewhere.
The bigger issue is we were looking for high character guys to change the culture of the team and we trade for a potential cancer. I like the trade personally, but conflicting narratives coming out of this office lately

wo with this trade, CD, Pickens, Tolbert, Turpin, Mingo are the top 5. the fight is for last spot and Flourney is Stephen's favorite.

and then losing Tolbert and Mingo next year, and if we don't resign Pickens makes WR another need next year.

its a never ending comedy journey with the jonses.

Last season something was wrong with him, before that he was making the most of his opportunity and we were seeing growth.

Yeah probably. I am a Ferguson fan but last year he regressed a little. Maybe injury was a part of this. He is a good player, but not sure I would re-sign for what it would take. Maybe this year changes that. Dallas doesn't have a replacement on its roster currently though.

You believed Schotty had control, huh?

Jerry let Schotty move around furniture to give him something to do while he was making deals with Pittsburgh.

We did not need another WR ....... but the great thing about this is how Pickens will react when Dak starts throwing the ball in the dirt at his feet or 10 feet over his head.

Its gonna be a show ....... get your popcorn ready.
Where are they going to put his locker?

so with this trade,

so the notion that we hit on 25% is 100% wrong!

I thought he was speaking about the NfL in general. They have had a good run. But I don’t know if we can consider some of those guys successes just yet. They aren’t bad guys but with Pickens we are talking about an elite talent and none of those guys are elite. This type of talent just typically isn’t available in the 3rd.
