TRADED Cowboys trade for George Pickens and 2027 6th for 2026 3rd and 2027 5th

Is the trade itself bad?
You're swapping a 3rd for most likely a comp 4th or at best a comp 3rd. Plus the swapping of the lower round picks. So basically giving up a round of value.

For a guy most teams didnt want to touch. Does show some talent. Most likely a one year rental.

If this team was one #2 WR away from having a shot at the SB, then its worth the risk.

Are we? IMO, no.

So giving anything for him is a waste, IMO. Unless you're just trying to keep the fan base engaged for another year.

Does show some talent? Seriously? Well if that is the talent level YOU think we traded for then it explains your opinion. The guy is a legit #1 on some teams and a fantastic #1A or #2 here however you want to define it from a talent perspective. Regardless referring to him as a guy who has shown "some talent" shows you haven't watched him or are just trying to be contrarian or try and sell your point. From a talent perspective this is a ridiculous steal for the Cowboys. Minimal cap hit and a huge talent. That is the combine that costs a lot in a trade. The issue with Pickens is of course the attitude and volatility and how he fits in. That is why you get a #1 WR for as little as we had to give up. If he didn't have baggage at $3M for the season he costs you a first rounder at a minimum.

Also, I have no idea where people are getting the idea that there is zero chance he is here beyond this year. I don't know the percentage and it sure is nowhere near 100%, but it sure isn't near 0% either. And even if he is one and done, we at worst get back a 4th and potentially a 3rd.

I watched him last year when we played them. Did nothing. 3 for 26 on 7 targets. Ask Lewis what he thinks of him.

Ironically, Tolbert was the star of that game.

Just looked up his 2024 stats
59 103 900 3
32nd in yards and 81st in TD

And for reference, our #3 last year that everyone wants to run out of town
49 79 610 7

Call me crazy, but I dont see how 1 of them is all world, number 1 talent and the other is destined for the chopping block.

Unlikely to get a comp that high.

Most likely a 6th.

There is a limit on the number of comp picks also.

The knock on the trade is he’s a head case, will be UFA, we lost a 3rd, and he isn’t even all pro/pro bowl.

The pros: 30-60 catches. 4-8 TDs. 800+yds

So if you watched him one game that would explain you not understanding his talent and bringing up Tolbert as a comparison is just silly if you had watched him more than one game. Career YPC Tolbert 12.2; Pickens 16.3.

Yes. We all know that. Not sure the point. That's why it isn't a 100% chance he will be here long term but of course as I stated it's not like it is zero either. People are seemingly attempting to portray it that way for no reason other than to try and twist the trade as being a bad move

Comp picks are speculative. That's why you cant count on them as being part of the deal.

I get that hes a deep ball guy. Tall, athletic, not blazing speed but above average.

I also get that Pitt had/has a mess at QB.

But for a 3rd year player who was the teams #1, those numbers are pedestrian. Really concerning is the lack of TDs.

Combine that with drama issues, and final year of his contract, no way I drop a 3rd on him. Generally seems to be the consensus from other teams as well.
