TRADED Cowboys trade for OT Broderick Jones

Given the fact teams want to keep OTs, Jones was probably the best a team in need like the Cowboys could have possibly done.
It's not promising. If you just word search Broderick Jones and read articles regarding him before the trade, they are consistently talking about how he's struggling and the Steelers need to get rid of him.

You better fix him for that price.
Dallas is wheeling and dealing, hope this guy can play. This is a big need for this football team, Steele can't be trusted in pass protection. Dallas is attempting to improve at swing tackle, this guy is probably an upgrade over Nate Thomas, I would say. Hope he can pass block better than Steele.

Since when is the gunner position a thing we care about here? We've literally never talked about it on this board dating back as long as I've been here (and all other Cowboys forums before that). In fact, this board has been pretty consistent in wanting to eliminate ST-only players like CJ Goodwin.

What is with this sudden rush to protect a guy who hasn't make a difference on gameday--ever?
Mingo has had a tremendous camp and preseason and has shown he has vastly improved from the player he was before. Carolina was the team that overdrafted him in the 2nd round and the Cowboys got him for a 4th (a year before the Pickens trade).

Sometimes players take time to develop. Mingo's light seems to have come on. And special teams play is more important than people think; and Mingo can also return punts or kicks.

What’s the drop off of Barham a 3rd to Shelton Moore Overton 4ths . So “ moving back a bit “ by getting rid of next years 3 is quite an over simplification of things .
Dallas is so short on picks next year they will probably move down in the 1st, 2nd, or both to recoup the 3rd they lost in this trade.

I don't know why I come here. All you couch gms that know the outcome of every trade, know every player, even the most obscure player, you all have the inside scoop. Ugh....i need to just limit my time here to 10 minutes a day.
Yea most people on here don't even watch every Cowboy game.....let alone know about a Steelers olineman

Congrats, we just traded for the Kenneth Murray of OTs.
You'd have to blindfold Broderick Jones and turn him around backwards to make him the Murray of OTs.

Is Jones elite? No. But he's not trash. Just doing some research on the guy helps instead of just screaming "he sucks" just for the sake of saying it.

He was on their bubble. The 9th linemen’s or thereabouts

It was an overpay. He’s not been good. He’ll he a backup here’s
Even with them getting a 4th back, I dont them sending out a 3rd round for someone they don't intend to start. Thats how I see this

rather they just follow there draft board then force trade backs to get extra picks. If the class truly is very deep then some good players will go undrafted and Jerry needs to sell them to come to dallas

We had all offseason to address the right tackle issue and we're waiting until the last minute. Everybody knows steele is garbage. We should have been working on a replacement during the season last year.

I agree. They clearly have a plan for Jones giving up a 3rd. I just wonder if the grand plan isn't Jones at LT and Guyton flipping to the right. If not this year, than next.

He’s never returned a punt or a kick in his career. That’s college and pros.

People want it to be true because the Zone de-values the return game and assumes anytime can do it if they are fast.

Mingo, unfortunately, is not particularly fast. He’s slower than GP and obviously much slower than Turpin, he’s more like CeeDee.

Cowboys fans - “We need tackle depth. Thomas and Shelton are not it. Go get somebody!”

After trade. “why would you do that??”
