There goes the streak of picking excellent players with our 3rd round picks. How dumb, and all for a 1st round pick BUST. Another Mazi. I hear Mazi just got cut by the Jets. WTH was Jerry, Stephen, Will and this coaching staff thinking of trading our 3rd & 5th round picks next year for this Mazi BUST of a 1st round pick? He was going to get cut. Why waste important mid round picks for another Mazi? Just when they were doing so good, this front office panicked and made its past rear its ugly head.

I think we'll definitely start him out as the swing tackle (probably not the first game, though), and see how he develops from there. Not having to play right away might let him progress physically, but getting a handle on the scheme and technique asked of him seems to be the major challenge for him.

I don't mind the move, even though it is costing us the equivalent of a late third (late 80s/early 90s). Players we got for a pick valued in that range include Jaishawn Barham, Marist Liufau, DeMarvion Overshown, Jalen Tolbert, Nahshon Wright, Jourdan Lewis, Connor McGovern and Chaz Green. So four successes (if Barham turns out) and four failures since 2015.

I don't think they will cut him because they view him as a developmental fourth-round pick who could get claimed on waivers by some team that was just as high on him.

I’m sure they will keep Shelton since we just drafted him, but I would hate to lose a legit player by keeping him around. Might have to risk exposing him and hope to bring him back to the practice squad.

Wonder if we'd be willing to give up on Thomas? He was only a late-round pick and didn't show the development we were hoping for this camp. If we carry him, then we have to carry three backup tackles.

Trading a 3rd and 6th for Broderick Jones and a 4th rounder is a gamble.

Not sure I would have done this or many other GM's not named Jerry Jones lol Jones has been bad and is coming off of a serious injury.

After suffering a season-ending neck injury in Week 12 of the 2025 season, Jones underwent off-season spinal fusion surgery. Although he avoided the PUP list and played 140+ snaps across all three preseason games, his play was rough:

  • Pass Protection Meltdown: According to PFF tracking, Jones allowed 3 sacks and 5 pressures over just 92 pass-blocking snaps during the preseason.
  • Lack of Functional Strength: Reports out of camp noted he is not back to 100% in terms of upper-body strength or playing weight following the lengthy rehab. The spinal fusion limited his offseason weight-training regimen, causing him to play under his typical 311-pound frame.
  • Rust & Mechanical Compensation: Between the surgery rehab, a minor spring setback, and missed rep time, his footwork and hand placement looked noticeably sluggish. Defenders consistently took advantage of his lack of anchor.

He had Spinal fusion surgery and reportedly was beating by everybody in camp.this is just a desperate move and worse than the Mingo trade.

I don't know how much of this is Jerry and how much is Will McClay and the coaches. The coaches have said they are not completely happy with how Steele has played and haven't been happy with the backup tackles. The Joneses probably took that and told McClay to find them a tackle. I think Jerry is given too much credit or blame on most of these deals. I don't even know if he knew who Broderick Jones was before they tried to acquire him.
