TRADED Cowboys trade for OT Broderick Jones

I would try Nate Thomas at Guard before cutting him.

Get him out of space and kick him inside.
Nate should've never been at OT. There is no way he would've ever had the feet to play OLT. I love the kid and the passion he plays w/, POed me a little that they wasted everyone's time playing him at OT.

David Bailey is going to do that to a lot of Tackles in this league.

But this trade certainly confirms what many Cowboys fans could clearly see - we have a problem at OT. Broderick Jones is a curious acquisition because he has been underwhelming for a first round pick.

Curious move. Not that we picked up an OT. But…this guy?
Yeah, but did you see how politely he helped up the QB after the sack? Right kind of guy...

I’m really trying to like this deal, but just don’t see it. Coming off major surgery, hasn’t looked good in camp and no control left after this season.

Hope it works out obviously it’s a big need

They are playing Thomas, an natural OG, at OT. They are playing Cornelius, a natural OT, at OG. These are /were both promising prospects and they are mismanaging them

Thinking on this more….be careful of what you wish for.

I wanted a veteran swing. I did not expect to get a great player, but I also didn’t think that a third round pick would be involved. I understand they got a fourth back, but the guy is coming off neck surgery.

I don’t mind the pick so much as I think this was vital to fix, but is he going to be reliable? The problem better be fixed, and I’m not so sure it is.

No clue if this is will work but I give the FO credit for identifying a weakness on the roster and doing something about it. Refreshing.
This is where I stand with this team now. I'd rather the front office do something than nothing even if it explodes in their faces.

It seems like some would rather the team do nothing than overpay, but it isn't like we've gone anywhere for the last 30 years whether we've had all our draft picks and more or whatever we're done. I'm OK with spending them all on players. Now, I'd rather us get someone proven, but trying something is better than nothing IMO.

Why when we already have good backups in the interior OL? That time has passed. We will be cutting interior guys that played better than him. Put him on the PS as an OT. If someone wants him stye can have him. You can always pluck a Thomas off of someones PS or get in some other way if emergency strikes.
I'm leaning this way. I don't know if we will, though, because it's going to take a bit to get Jones up to speed to be the swing tackle. Guess we could go with Shelton and hope that we don't have to play him.
