If I read correctly, out of the remaining 2nd-round prospect DLmen, the only ones we brought in for a work out are:
1) Jernigan
2) Crichton
3) Ealy
4) Lawrence
5) Kareem Martin

There are 15 picks before us, so I think at least one of those guys will be available at 47. I think we'd be very upset if they all start to come off the board before we pick. If I was a betting man, which I am, I'd say our 2nd round pick will be one of these 5 guys.

i agree. that's why i'm not keen to trade up. I think one of them (if not a couple) will be there at 47.

I would make that bet too, with maybe Attaochu added in. But I would still rather trade up for Lawrence if the price wasn't too steep. Crichton and Ealy are both strong side guys and I think we would be OK this year with Crawford, Spencer and maybe Selvie there. Jernigan is an excellent player but I think we can also do OK at the 1 Tech with McClain, Hayden and a later round pick.

WDE is the only major hole on the roster right now and Lawrence would fill it for many years to come.

if the OP is true then they are very ready to trade up this evening.
Really wish they would be patient, unless they are completely sure in the player, as there could be some great choices at 47 without giving up a 4th and maybe 5th too. If it's only 3-4 spots and cost just a 5th...then maybe.

Why do the Cowboys have so many darn leaks? Goodness, its like everybody in the war room can't wait to let the world know who we are targeting. You don't see that same level of knowledge get out for other teams.

I just don't like Lawrence very much at all. I would rather have Attoachu, Jeffcoat, Crichton, Tuitt at defensive end. That's not even mentioning the DT's that are left, Nix, Sutton....
I know the boys are high on Lawrence, but I hope it doesn't work out for them.

They named him Demarcus Lawrence because he's like a hybrid of DeMarcus Ware and Lawrence Taylor only with much more natural talent.

I'm with you that WDE is our biggest area of need, but I also think Crichton has a much better chance of being an elite SDE than Lawrence has of being an elite WDE.

I feel you. A few days before the draft, someone tweeted that we were targeting four players (three defense and one offense) in the 1st round. Everybody on CowboysZone pretty much guessed it was Barr, Donald, Shazier, Martin. We were right. That tells me we haven't done a good job disguising our picks. And it helps other teams. Pittsburgh was gonna trade back to take Shazier but stayed at 15 because they knew we wanted him.

Just let the draft come to us. Someone good will be available at #47, whether it's a WR, DE, DT, or even Safety or LB.

Worse comes to worst, pick Tre Mason.

Funny thing is, with all the leaks, 99% of the stuff reported was wrong. Very few had Martin in play. We heard that Manziel was our top choice. We heard that Beckham was the guy. Barr. These insider morons know about as much as we do.

Lawrence is probably the last remaining starting-caliber weakside edge rusher in the draft, and the Falcons are after him, too. If the team wants to avoid a gaping hole at WDE, they're going to have to burn a fourth and jump Atlanta. It's that simple. That said, arguably the best 1-technique in the draft wouldn't be a horrible consolation prize.

I don't think they are as bad off as everyone thinks when it comes to their defensive end rotation....

LE- Selvie/Spencer
RDE- Crawford/draft pick

Could be Attaochu or Lawrence....but I'm thinking they are going after Ealy. A tweener to play a few snaps @ DT as a pass rusher

I can't see us picking Attaochu in the 2nd round dont get me wrong he is a good player with some potential to be a huge upside but a lot of scouts and analysts including broaddus has a 4th round grade on him. The only players I would consider trading up for is Lawrence and Jernigan I am sure the scouts have a low first round grade on both those players. Also watch out for Kyle van noy possibly in the 3rd and maybe Kevin Pierre Lewis in the 4th or 5th. If we can grab Aaron Murray in the 4th or 5th I would be extremely happy. He was a baller for Georgia and he played in one of the toughest divisions in football the SEC. I also like the potential QB's coming out next year Bryce petty, Marcus Mariotta, Brett Hundley to name a few. The biggest thing here is I dont want the cowboys to be reaching for anyone even if its for our horrendous defense. Reaching for players usually turns out to be bad news. If we can somehow get Jernigan, Lawrence, or Chrichton another LB maybe Van Noy or Pierre Lewis and another WR I would be happy. I have a feeling their will be a run on receivers in the 2nd round which would only help us out. If we can get anyone of those top players to the 40's it would be much easier for us to trade up.

If they liked Shazier so much, I think they will probably have a lot of interest in a guy like Van Noy. I just don't know where to slot his value.

You are clearly wrong because then they would have named him Demarcus Taylor
