One win against a perpetually bad team does not a season rectify. ;)
The problem with many of us is that we're creatures of the moment. We don't need just one or two moments against under .500 teams. We need moments against the Packers and the Eagles and the Falcons and the Saints and the Rams, etc.
When we win those moments, then maybe, my optimism will return.
But please forgive me if the crapiness of 20 years without a Super Bowl appeance hover over my head like a thunder cloud causing me to embrace the inevitable futility I'll feel when it appears we're righting the S.S. Jerry. ;)
What I always remind myself and others is, that in the NFL things change in the blink of an eye. A fumble , a penalty, a missed field goal, a made field goal or an injury will change thw outlook of a team in a jiffy. Even though we like to pretend that football is an exact science we have to remember anything can happen . Yes , I do agree that the front office has made some questionable moves but I know that a few wins in a row or losses for that matter will change the outlook on our team even though it's the same exact team.

Dak played up to his potential! But the Lions are not much of a team I predicted this as a win and I think it's great. I won't get excited though until the Cowboys beat teams that are good. Dak had a nice game for how hear been playing but it was just an ordinary game for most QBs.

O line played much better, Maher is better than I thought, Dak and Zeke stepped up. The defense looked a little suspect today though. Chidobe was getting lit up, but a lot of those were just great throws and catches.

"White on rice" coverage on several Lions catches. Not upset about the receptions, really can't help that.

I see improvement, both offense and defense. But also appears J. Smith is regressing, he's still hesitant on too many plays. He played great in college, apparently mostly on physical ability, he's got to be smarter in the NFL, and I don't think he's "got it"...

I’m thrilled with the win because I want to stay hovered around .500 as long as possible.
Facts are facts; our WRs and TEs are the worst position groups on the team and among ,the worst in the NFL. We won’t beat many good teams with good defenses with this receiving group.

However, we are an extremely young and inexperienced team, so my hope is to
  1. Stay healthy
  2. See improved chemistry in the passing game
  3. See improved consistency on defense
  4. Be at .500 and peaking after 10-12 games
That may get us into the playoffs, though I don’t expect much success with the lack of playmakers on offense.
I was opposed to trading for ET because I wanted to see the young guys, but I’ve seen enough. Give them the #2 + a player or another pick. ET could definitely improve the defense for a playoff run, and having that locked down would allow us to spend our offseason focused on TE, WR, depth at OT, an upgrade at 3rd CB, true 3rd down playmaker at RB so Zeke can be kept healthy and in peak form.

Kind of like hitting the lottery? Although the odds are against it happening, we keep playing because we feel that some lucky rube is going to win it so why not us?

You must be new here.

Do a quick review of the past 23 years and you'll understand. The fans have learned this behavior the hard way. And...the fans are correct in assessing things that way.
If pathetic fans are going to cry even after wins they are probably better off not watching. Bunch of crybabies!

I wonder how the Patriots felt about being dominated last week by such a crappy Lions team.

did you all notice the number of QBs throwing in the 350 yards and 2 to 4 tds range today? You think our defense is going to hold all those teams to 20 points and less so we have a chance? Bortles 388 yards, 2 tds/ Watson 375 yards and 2 tds, Luck 464 yards and 4 tds, Brady 274 yards and 3 TDs, Wentz 348 Yards and 2 Tds, Mariotta 344 yards and 2 Tds, Dalton 337 yards and 2 Tds, Ryan 419 yards and 3 TDs, yes, we won because Zeke had something llike 240 yards of offense. That is not sustainable, and at times you QB needs to be able to take you up and down the field.
