1tech not stouthearted enough at point to suck up both interior lineman and keep jaylon clean
So many people make excuses for this team when we lose the exact same way in the playoffs. Since Super bowl xxx dumb penalties, sloppy mistakes, lackluster coaching, and being bullied on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Everyone praises these bargain bin linemen like Woods, maliek Collins who was overdrafted, and they get utterly dominated at the line of scrimmage when it's time to play big boy football.

It is infuriating.

The one gap system requires discipline and patience. Wait 'til the runner comes to you instead of trying to go and get him. Because if you go and try to get him then you are not in your assigned spot. But then again you have to be big enough and strong enough to hold your spot, because getting there is only half the battle. So they are supposed to get to their spots and hold their spots so the runner will have nowhere to go. So the real problem during that game was fortitude. Mentally and physically.

Did you miss the Seahawks playoff game?

Marinelli and Richard got schooled. Nothing more than that. Our defense got Colted that day.

Marinelli also got pantsed in the playoffs against GB in 2016. Had to answer to Rogers going hurry up, even though it's something he's known for.

The Rams game, they said they had tells on our dline and adjusted accordingly.

Just out coached.

There were only 2 of them on the field most of the game.
If I recall, LVE hardly played. They put Lee out there a lot, because they didn't know how to adjust to the beating, and tried to scapegoat the rookie as a problem.

What is your point? Because there are 2 LBs on the field they do not have responsibilities? LVE was responsible for cut back and he was no were to be found.....all night in this particular game.

This play is 100% LVE picking the wrong gap. It's not coaching or a need for a 1-tech.

I mean how freaking bad do you have to screw up a playoff game before you get canned?

8)

It’s not like it’s his first screw up.

The stupid cover 4 play vs the Packers at the end of the 2016 playoff game should have got him Fired too

Or the 2nd half collapse vs Green Bay in the Dez game.
Not to mention that Aaron Rodgers was hopping around on one foot the entire game in 2014. That game was ours to win!

Marinelli should have put his foot on his neck and came after him.

To be fair, our D-line back then was a bunch of meh. Our best defense was our offense and TOP.

The defensive line consisted of Jeremy Mincey, George Selvie, Nick Hayden and Ty Crawford.
And a rookie Lawrence that started the year injured.

I don't recall Carter, Hitchens or McClain being adapt at blitzing either but that could of been due to Rod's passive defense.

Nope I did not. Seattle had a poor offensive line that just caught lightening in a bottle running the football. Russell's back there getting sacked like David Carr over the past few seasons.

The Rams have an elite offensive line. That can be dominant and take over games. In instances like that you need the kind of game changers that we don't have on the interior of our dl.

Dallas gets big games from the defensive line against average to poor fronts. Then against elite fronts they get stonewalled or blown off the ball. That's what happens to undersized overachieving spare parts type of players on the defensive line. They regress to the mean which is being replacement level talent.

...lol... yep, no other way to put it. This is what separates Billchicks from standard coaches. Improvising on the whim. Why Marenilli is still here?? Sunk-cost fallacy?

The LBs were the problems in this game. On this one particular play LVE looked clueless. He was no were near were he should have been. Hence Kris yelling at him most of the night.

Combination of factors included them. Woods and Lawrence both trying to play hurt made the line weaker. No adjustment to the Rams' game-planning to make Lawrence a non-factor. The strong safety overrunning plays. Full strength and everyone being where they were supposed to be, and it doesn't turn out as bad as it did. Some adjustments to counter what the Rams were doing and maybe it turns into a good defensive performance. Just a collision of bad play and bad play-calling.

Everyone is hurt that time of year. The most obvious issues were plays just like this one. In this case Jaylon and the DL did what they were supposed to do and LVE did not. There are many examples through out the game of even Jaylon looking confused with missteps on misdirection which means he was looking in the backfield instead making his reads on the OL. I still blame the coaches for not making in game changes though.

If your main run plug and your best defender are hurt, that's a lot to overcome. The Rams would have suffered as well if Suh and Donald were playing with torn labrums. (Of course, Lawrence said he played through his injury in 2017 and 2018, which makes his overall efforts those years pretty remarkable.) Woods tore his during the second quarter against LA.

Im not speaking hypothetically. You see this play and you can see the problem had nothing to do with the DL. Several plays through out the game that show similar misques by the LBs. Tape dont lie.

its not really surprising
Eberflus knew exactly the weaknesses and a colts hurry up attack against the young (and rookie) linebackers would be the way to go
the way they are coached to run to the ball from anywhere its more surprising teams dont exhaust them with hurry up offense
