Makes complete sense. They got Collins in the 3rd who is a 3 Tech. This wasn't originally the plan, but since they didn't get a defensive end in the first or second, they figured they would move Crawford over and plug in Collins while the DEs are suspended. They then got an insurance policy in getting Tapper.
The question is how much of their draft were they willing to give up in order to move to 32 to get Ogbah and how much of their draft were they willing to give up to jump up from 3 back into the second to get Smith?
Would have been nice to get one of these defensive ends early. They've got to be thinking about get some veteran who gets cut in June.
Would have preferred Jack then Smith, but hey you can't always get 3 of the top 5 players in the draft
This is one of the few drafts I can remember where we wanted to move several times and couldn't.
It's not like we had a philosophy of "Stand there and make a pick." and our picks were at the top of every round, we just couldn't make a deal.
Didn't want Ogbah at all. Think we dodged a bullet with that one
The fact that the Doctor who performed the surgery is on our staff quelled any worry from me about his long term outlook.
That, and his brother is on the team, for now. We had a lot of good insight about Smith and his recovery. Nothing is certain, but I like the odds.
Its not that they couldn't do it. They WOULDN'T. Some of these deals could've been made if they would've gave up a 3rd instead of a 4th it seems. That's what I get from it.
I wouldve liked Ogbah and Jaylan with those 2nd rounders but I have no problem with how it ended up and they shouldn't either. Some of those picks were too steep and i'm not sure if we end up with Tapper and Preskott if we do those moves.
