You're absolutely correct and if that's the case, I'll apologize
Pointing out the stupidity in labeling any player average based on team record. Which dak haters do now that we happen to go 8-8.

And the hypocrisy in calling daks pro bowls meaningless, yet using it as evidence of why jones is great.

That part. Bryon slowed down any WRs lined up on his side...now the whole field will open up for QBs n WRs. But hey, it's all about picks.

Yeah, I've never understood the obsession over a singular statistic.

The dude is good to great in almost every category, but he doesn't get turnovers. We just have to hope that Chido can take the next step into an upper echelon elite style of play.

Later Byron, break the bank. Don't go to Philly.
Can’t pay top dollar to a cb that can’t make an interception. Just on luck you should get a pick. Still doesn’t happen. His cover skills are great.

It’s not an obsession. It’s the fact that he gets none. How do you get none? 4 years in a row. He is literally the worst corner in the history of the nfl at getting picks. And despite what you may think. Turnovers are huge.

Yes, turnovers are huge. You know what else is huge? Shutting down an offensive weapon.

Remember Revis Island? If Jones had been allowed, or instructed, or coached..or whatever..to shadow the #1 receiver at all times, who knows what would have been said now?

Regardless, what we disagree on is all semantics at this point. Dallas cannot afford important pieces on Defense because of the potential excessive bankroll on offense.

Covering is huge. But the fact that he gets zero picks is huge problem. It’s actually a very strange situation.

the big issue is he will probably get top corner money. Simply can’t pay that to a guy that is so bad at picks.

would you rather pay Cooper or jones?

Shutdown?

Byron Jones (14 games)
64 passes/34 completions (53.1%)
11.6 YPC
87.7 QB rating (against)
3 TDs (surrendered)
0 INTs

Stephon Gilmore (16 games)
101 passes/51 completions (50.5%)
11.7 YPC
44.1 QB rating (against)
0 TDs (surrendered)
6 INTs (2 returned for TDs)

If Byron Jones is “shutdown” what does that make Gilmore?

But the issue is can they replace him with an equal player?

jones is average. 8-8 proves that.
Duh.....pro bowls don’t count right genius?

Troll logic used to make a troll look dumb.
Did you bother to familiarize yourself with the CB landscape around the league, the current FA pool before you made this short sighted response?
And saying that record (8-8) has anything to do with individual talent is just beyond absurd.

I believe this to be true , but as is I'm fine with letting him walk because I really want ballhawks that can change a game , but most likely he will go elsewhere and end up a interception leader in the NFL just cuz.
This would be very telling. It would prove, without a doubt, our low amount of interceptions for the past 6 seasons was squarely on the coaching staff. Brandon Carr’s increase in interceptions after leaving here already casts some suspicion.

He is sarcastically using a Dak hater’s point against Catch17. Has nothing to do with Byron Jones.

If so, that makes no sense. 4 turnovers a year is almost nothing in the grand scheme. That’s .25 turnovers a game.

They’re letting him walk because they paid Dlaw, Zeke, and Jaylon already and he’s lower on the pecking order than Dak and Amari.

Byron should’ve been the fourth guy on the totem pole (Dak, Amari, DLaw) instead of sixth. The Jones messed up paying Zeke and Jaylon. This pass defense is going to be rough without a first round corner.
Exactly , the Dak ridiculous price tag demand , coupled wirh the overpayment of zeke and jaylon and Dlaw , means Jerry already seeing the Defense diluted .

This was expected but I am curious if he goes to afc or he does burn the cowboys and go to the giants or eagles

I figured. We will keep Dak and Cooper and let Jones go. Draft or replace through FA. No choice because we didn’t sign Dak last season. And the Cooper contract will be a killer also.

Some of yall dont watch film breakdowns and it shows. Our CB's were coached to play the player and not the ball. With their back to the ball, that kills all hope for an INT on the play. Jones is a top tier CB and if it takes him going to another team or even a rival for yall to understand that, then so be it...

With that being said, I hope he does go to the Eagles so yall can see how wrong yall are.

5tds allowed in 2 years and can effectively shut down a teams WR#1, but yeah..he's average.
yeah people whine about not int's, but no one on dallas D got any because of the scheme and coaching, not the players.
Jones may well go to another team and be an all pro corner....with the int's.
Jones boys dont value anyone in secondary, or DT's lol.
