Cowboys will likely explore signing Tony Romo to a long-term contract

I agree.

We need to make sure we are right.

And if he plays fantastic again, make him your franchise quarterback. Franchise him. It would not be the end of the world.

You do realize that if you franchise him, it will be $12 to $15 million for a ONE YR DEAL.

If Romo plays anywhere close to decent, there would be at least a dozen teams offering him at least $10 mill per season. So realistically you are looking at a Brees type deal of $70 mill over 7 yrs if I remember correctly, with close to $20 mill signing bonus.

This is why good teams NEVER let their superstars hit free agency.

You do understand that if he goes UFA he might sign with another team right?

When you play in the rain you will make bad throws. He had a good game -- he hits on everything and you are talking about having a great game. You make it out like he sucked.

I cant believe what I am reading on here.....let our franchsie QB go UFA???

Yea, thats a great idea, we have only been through 50 QBs since Aikman and we finally found a QB that is the only one to have gone to a probowl since Aikman, and now we are just going to let him go UFA so Little Napoleon can give him $150 mill.

I read one poster on here would actuall let Romo walk and take the 2 ones???

I am so glad that certain posters on this board do not actually make the personnel decisions on this time............freaking amazing letting your probowl QB go UFA.......unreal!!!

CFL All-Star Ricky Ray would provide Romo stiff competition. Matt Baker may too. Competition is always good.

Why keep throwing this dudes name up? He is in the CFL for a reason, and lack of opportunity ain't it. :bang2: :bang2:

I think he meant competition at QB playing football. Ricky Ray doesnt provide that

Did someone on here just honestly propose putting Garcia nad Owens back on the same roster together?

That is not even funny.

Well, Jerry was dumb enough to sign Bradie James to an extension when he didn't have to, so why not?

Using that logic, how about go ahead and extend McQuistan to a long term deal.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Cowboys will likely explore signing Tony Romo to a long-term contract extension this offseason.

He's slated for $1 million in 2007 base pay, and Dallas is ready to put its future in his hands. Romo, who threw 19 TDs and 13 picks after taking over for Drew Bledsoe at halftime in Week 7, is currently at the Pro Bowl. Feb. 10 - 5:08 pm et

I hope that they are just 'exploring' this idea as opposed to actually following through with it - we need a true franchise QB and Tony Romo isn't the answer.
