Cowboys win total for 2017 could be 7 to 11, IMO

Let's be honest...If this team somehow manages to squeak out 7 wins...Garrett is history...w/ the whole staff....then I'm on the phone w/ Chris Peterson...writing a blank check...if I'm Jerry.

The NFL so desperately wants the Cowboys to be relevant again. The writing is on the wall if you just look. But somehow this franchise has yet to be able to capitalize. They just continue to shoot itself in the foot time and again. Honestly....losing to GB in the playoffs last year is unforgivable. That GB team was on life support.

Oh I think they were deeper last year. Romo Green Leary McFadden Butler Morris Heath Wilcox Brown Wilson. Lots of replacement level starters and a couple of studs. I hope they have some depth with their youth but I think depth is their most overlooked strength from last season and perhaps the most telling sign of the change in outlook under McClay and Stephen.
I grant you the most important position had better depth last year. And guard was deeper. But we are now with better depth at WR and maybe TE. And the Free who played last year is easily replaceable.

But this year's D is deeper in talent across the board, if not experience.

LB lost nobody and added Jaylon - whatever he ends up actually becoming. DL lost J Crawford and added Charlton, Moore and Paea. Secondary is legitimately debatable. You can argue the talent level is higher but the experience level is a concern on the back end. Considering this is a young man's game I'll take young talent over 30-something mediocre DBs.

Yeah last year was a lot of lucky factors and good health coming together. I doubt we're as lucky this year

8-10 wins this year seems likely

Besides "a lot of luck" and "good health".....

How about Dak's "decision making process" .... "good judgement" being one or two of the main reasons?

It's been 3 years and you still hear it as if it is valid thinking. It's one thing to not like change I can understand that but to be oblivious to it just makes me smh.

I think it's because Garrett's 5-year record from 2011-2015 was 40-40...if the Cowboys somehow go 3-13 this year you'll know it's the Redheaded Curse lol...

The Cowboys could win 0 to 16 games, I'm sure there is a probability percentage attached to each with 0 and 16 being the lowest.

Last season the Cowboys started a rookie quarterback and a rookie RB and:

They beat the Packers in Green Bay

They beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh

They beat a Lion team that needed the victory to make the playoffs while the game was meaningless to the Cowboys.

They beat two teams that were ranked #1 defensively at the time they faced the Cowboys.

Every game there was a new challenge and they met them. Now they come back stronger and more experienced.

Here are a few questions:

How many fans of upcoming Cowboy opponents have circled their game as a victory?

What will the Cowboys be unable to do in 2017 that they did in 2016.

Which teams have gained so much strength that they should be seen a definite favorite?

We see our team from the perspective of a fan of that team. Try to see the Cowboys from the perspective of an opponent's fan.

The Dallas Cowboys are scary.
Thank you. The narrative that we were lucky last year and had an easy schedule is nonsense. We lost our starting QB for God's sake and every game was supposed to be the test, yet the Cowboys kept winning. At some point you have to admit that we have a pretty good team and not much has changed as far as level of talent despite the departures. In fact you could argue that we have improved in some areas. I expect rookie struggles early on defense, but I also believe that we will be playing with the lead most of the time and using up clock to keep the pups off the field. In any event, the defense will eventually be better than it was last year and the offense should continue to shine.

Since everybody uses him as an example, Jimmy Johnson was 32-32 in his first 4 years, with improvement shown every year. We have to give Garrett credit for going from perrenial 8-8 to contending every year (2015 would've been a 12 win season with Romo, IMO). I'm not saying he's Jimmy Johnson at all. I'm just saying I see improvement from where Garrett started to now.
