Definitely wouldn't hurt .. Low risk potentially high reward! Give him a prove it deal.

Yes, but usually when they are looking for depth they look for young guys to develop or they wait and go through the bargain bin during training camp. They are out in front on this one and I hope it is due diligence because they want to make it a priority.

If they had some young depth guys they had confidence in they probably wouldn't be interested in the guy. This looks like adding a competent vet so they don't have to force anything in the draft and protects them if any rookies aren't ready. But I'm sure the key thing was how the knee looked and how much money he wants. And that's not saying he couldn't beat Leary or Bern out in an open competition.

Well since we only have one true reserve guard in Chris DeGeare on the roster, probably not.

I actually prefer older depth guys on the line if you have young starters. They can push for a job and show the younger guys how to do it, and you don't have that scared feeling you get putting in a guy with no experience if a starter goes down.

If Joseph returns to form, though, he'll clearly be starting.

The guy was a beast when he played.....................totally destroyed his knee however, basically had to have it reconstructed.

The fact that he is still a free agent makes me wonder if he is just a shell of his former self...............not harm in taking a look.

What happened to our "under 30" FA mantra that we just heard weeks ago?

That was a few weeks ago. Keep up with the current situation the team finds itself in. Things change. Lmao

Who knows how well he worked out?

He was flat out awful last year.

He may simply not have "it" anymore.

I think it is an absolute must that Dallas needs 1 guard and 1 center/guard. Draft 2 or sign a FA and get 1 or 2 more in the draft. This Joseph gentleman, if healthy would be a nice piece and give the Cowboys the chance to truly go BPA the entire draft.

BPA is often quoted, but not reality. If the best player on the board is a QB in round 1,then we are not picking him, we are trading out or picking someone else. Same thing if the BPA was Eric Ebron or a CB at our pick. So I don't know if it is ever really BPA.

The most important thing about this news is that we obviously don't feel content with the line, even though it was much improved last year. This shows me that they are not through overhauling the offensive line and realize there is a lot of room for improvement. I'm hopeful they also go OL early in the draft. We are one injury away from the OL being a weakness.

Most NFL teams are probably in that same scenario.
