The most important thing about this news is that we obviously don't feel content with the line, even though it was much improved last year. This shows me that they are not through overhauling the offensive line and realize there is a lot of room for improvement. I'm hopeful they also go OL early in the draft. We are one injury away from the OL being a weakness.

They have no depth and the guy may be cheap because of the bad year after the knee injury.

If the staff is impressed enough with his workout, he might at least merit a backup role. So much depends upon his state of health.

It will probably come down to the team wanting him to sign a contract without guaranteed money (i.e. they can cut him in training camp with a cap hit).

They might offer him a decent salary if he was come in without if being guaranteed.

It doesn't show that we obviously aren't content with the line. It shows we need a backup interior lineman. It says nothing about our confidence in Leary/Bernadeau/Free. Now, if we draft a few linemen in the early rounds of the upcoming draft, then yeah, I agree that we obviously aren't content with the line.

Yes, but usually when they are looking for depth they look for young guys to develop or they wait and go through the bargain bin during training camp. They are out in front on this one and I hope it is due diligence because they want to make it a priority.

Like this move, would provide more flexibility in the draft to not force adding guard depth early on. Who knows he could even compete for a starting spot. 31 isnt old for a guard

Depth can be a 2-3 year answer. Doesn't have to be a potential starter just improve.

Well, he doesn't have to be a potential starter BUT he needs to be a potential starter. Chances are he is going to start at some point in the season. We have almost zero depth inside.

And it looks like he can for a few years as needed. I'm not gonna fall for your quandrious delima here. :) he's solid depth we don't have. Let a role player be a role player.

My point was that they are addressing it now instead of waiting, which would appear to be a priority for a change. Not sure quandrious is a real word but I am pretty sure there is no dilemma here.

If they liked the workout I'm sure if they really want him he's signed by tomorrow if not it's either him or Byrd, but I think Byrd would b cheap that maybe both isn't out of question at all

I hope it works out. However, I still want to see a guard drafted that can start right away. Not that I want them to start, but I want a guard drafted that COULD play. I want to see two of those and a right tackle with the next two drafts. To be honest, no one should be safe. Draft a center and even someone that could play left tackle. Competition is what this team needs and pressure. But glad they are looking for someone that isn't 34, 35 years old and coming out of retirement.

There isn't a set pro timeline in which things happen.

If you see improvement, you do it.

And yes its a word
