Maybe he can return punts because Beasley sucks at it

We did have that situation supposedly under control with Ryan Switzer, who was also being groomed as Beasley's slot replacement. Then the front office suddenly decided to trade him to the Raiders for Jihad Ward. Now that guy plays for the team that just kicked our teeth in.

At one point he was unrivaled when it came to drops. Not sure if it had to do with a broken finger but he was captain stone hands.

If there's one thing the Steelers are good at it's identifying and developing WR talent. The fact that he busted out of there means he really had to fail.

Here's a recap of his dying days with the Steelers: https://247sports.com/nfl/pittsburg...-Coates-era-ends-in-disappointment-106804098/

Exactly..............he main problem was drops, its like somebody used a hands of stone card on him in Madden and it never wore off.

With that being said, if he has finally learned how to catch, he could be a decent addition. Has good size and speed and runs a decent route tree.

How can you tell if Dak can’t get them the ball?
This has been dissected over and over. Dak has proven he can get them the ball. This receiving group is simply not that good. It's like asking 3/4ths of the current starting bunch of backup talented Oline to play like actual starter talent. Very hard when the talent is simply not starting material.

Think about it. Why would the Cowboys be trying out Sammie Coates (who has played with several other teams during his short career) with 2 games left in the regular season if our WR group was so good?

If I had to venture a wild guess as to where he'd most likely be used, it'd be as a kick returner.

He has the necessary speediness and wouldn't have to catch the ball, which he's not good at.

I'm not sure why there would be interest. He has good speed (4.43), but he only has 528 receiving yards in 4 seasons. His 2016 kickoff return average was good (25 yards per return), but he only had 6 returns, and that was the only season he was used as a return man.
Steelers have a much higher evaluation of their WRs, they prefer to surround their Franchise QB with only top shelf talent.
Coates could fit in well here.

Hands of stone. Maybe he'll benefit from Dak's soft touch passes... lol.

Thought about it... how good would our wr look if Dak hits them when they’re wide open for Tds? I just seen the narrative switch from our TE’s being absolute trash to maybe they’re serviceable when Dak finally gets them the ball and allows them to make plays.... no matter how many Wr’s you throw at the “problem” Dak has to play better.

When has that been proven? Lol mike g is consistently beating defenders and Dak can’t hit him. Dak misses passes to Coop,Hurns, cole etc...
