I'll use your own words to counter your argument: go ahead and point to WHO rated Tyron Smith highly ( as in the same league as the Paces, and Ogdens, and Longs of the NFL when they were at that particular stage ).
and for your information, I do watch Pac 10 football. It's the only thing that's worth anything on TV on Saturday nights.
You said, "The key is to see how and what they've done over the past 2 seasons and, obviously, Smith's body of work wasn't impressive enough to rated as dominant. If that O-lineman is not rated as potentially being dominant"
The above quotation is simply your arbitrary "keys" that you adhere to, it's certainly not the industry standard.
Also, the point you're supposedly trying to use on me is a joke. Tell me, how exactly do I find a website that ranks players according to how they "dominate" and then how they compare to Jonathen Ogden, Pace and Long?
How about you show me a draft website that ranks its players with chocolate chip cookies icons; the better they are, the more chocolate chips they have in the represenative cookie.
Wes Bunting and WalterFootball are just two sites I looked up that had Tyron Smith ranked high back in April and July of '10, well before any weight gain and the college football season started.
Beyond that, you're missing the point if you're simply looking to draft websites for indicators of who is "dominate," or looking to see if they were being talked about highly prior to the offseason.
Football players, not just offensive linemen, as you're claiming make meteoric jumps up the draft. Guys like Tyson Alualu and Mike Iupati were not considered top half of the 1st round prospects going into the '09 season. Blaine Gabbert wasn't even being talked about that highly during this time last year.
