Cowboyszone Report Card...Sam Hurd...GPA = 1.85

Argh. The internet went down and I couldn't get in my grade of Bryant. I think Hurd is average--maybe slightly above average as a ST player but no better than average as a receiver.

D. Contributed nothing offensively due to the logjam in front of him, but the special teams coverage units were not as good this year. He was not the factor that he was in past seasons.

B, all around. He played well on special teams and has been a stand up guy.

More of a B-, but I rounded up because he's been a hard working guy during his time here. C if I was grading only as a WR, because he's average.

The guy's a solid special teams player. Like guys like Choice, just don't see enough of him to really grade him proper at WR. Reminds me of Keith Davis; position is eh, but STs stud.

This is a hard one to grade...I never Hurd much about him this past season, maybe because there was really nothing to see.

the year before he seemed to be real good a ST's, but this season?

I'll give him a C..

dude dropped a couple of TD's when he got his chance he does nothing for me.

C.
Jeez it look like I keep grading the same a Hos. GET OUTTA MY HEAD !!!

Is this the year someone like Jesse Holley or Manny Johnson makes Hurd dispensable?

I'm actually surprised that Holley is still with the team! I never thought that he would even last the first year. But, he is a damn good ST player, that is for sure!

;)

C.

An average receiver to slightly below average receiver who does well on special teams. Even the Cowboys decided he wasn't worth what they were paying him.............................

im grading him as a special teams player he didnt have enough targets to grade him as a WR in my book, so for special teams i gave a A for him though special teams as a whole is a B

I gave him a "C"

A full-time special teamer would have to do something exceptional to get a higher grade. Hurd did an average job for a non starting position.

Gave him an A.
Undrafted FA who stuck around for as long as he did.Hard working even when he has limited talent. What else do you want from the guy?

I went D...I could have went C I suppose. He's a solid ST performer and an occassional good WR for us. Nothing special but you need guys like that too to win games.

This one is just more tough for me cause outside of some special teams tackles he really didn't do much for this team at all last year.

Sam gets a B this year from me. I'm grading them relative to their position and Sam's a #4/#5 on this team, so he needs to be a very valuable special teams player, which he is. And he needs to make plays when he gets chances in the games, and this year he had very few standout catches and a few standout drops.

F-. You have 3 or 4 years to put yourself as the third guy and can't do it, you're a waste.

I gave him a C for the special teams play alone. I'd prefer our 4th WR to take advantage of his opportunities better that Hurd has. I remember when there was some pretty hot competition between Hurd and Austin in TC a few years ago. Austin has stepped up to the plate and Hurd has spent his time fighting off undrafted rookies and reality show winners for snaps at WR.

I think Holley or Johnson could have given us the same thing or more in the offense.

a B because he is who he is. I always liked Bill Bates more because of his special team play than his safety play, even though he was a solid back up player at S as well.

When Sam was named the special team captain by a special team coach who 99% of the fans admire, it spoke volumes about his contribution to the team.
