Its because he's debating with, for a lack of better word, laymens. Smith, even though hes a paid idiot too, is at least a professional debater who will call out skip on almost every position. Skip can get away with a lot more outlandish positions on this show that smith would have articulately smacked down.

Stephen A. doesn't even know about Football. It wasn't until recently that he started talking about football and he just reads off a Stat list. Cowherd for however much you hate his opinion at least is more well rounded in the sports he talks about.

I think our defense will give up yards but they will not give up tons of points. Giants had one of the worst defenses period last year and I'm sorry but a few high priced FA isn't going to become top 10. Our offense will score more then the Giants

Collin is delusional. His points were horrible....you have to protect your quarterback is first point he makes...does anyone protect the qb better than Dallas? Isn't the Giants OK horrible and minimize any perceived weakness in Dallas's DL?

During the 2014 offseason, Elway paid for a free agent corner , safety, pass rusher, linebacker, and defensive tackle. Talib, Ward, Ware, Knighton, and Marshall cost Elway about 115 million. In 2013 denvers defensive ranking per PFF was 22nd. By 2015 it was numero uno.

The Giants are trying to copy that plan. It's not completed yet, but that's what they are attempting by adding a free agent corner, pass rusher, and DT. Next will be a safety and linebacker.

Dear Jerry, please copy Elways plan to the best of your ability. We have the DTs in place, just get us a DE, safety, corner, and one lb. We have the fourth lowest paid D line in the NFL, that needs to change to at least middle of the pack.

Smith is a professional debater he doesn't need to know much about anything to argue his point. I don't hate Cowherd's opinions, even though he does reach a lot for his analogies. It's that Smith being a pro would constantly attack Skip and his positions, openly mocking him and his past predictions, causing Skip to keep on his toes and work harder to get his point across. So naturally Skip is more relaxed going back and forth with a radio guy and an athlete.

Just because the Broncos spent a lot in free agency ,doesn't mean it will work for us. Copying every last Super Bowl winner isn't a formula for success. Did the Packers spend a lot in FA? Did the seahawks spend a lot in FA? No.

Everyone keeps mentioning we have two rookies starting but they don't mention they'll have a rookie playing significant snaps on defense(E. Apple) and a rookie HC.

As we all know, being just an OC is different than being a HC. I'm sure he too will be making rookie mistakes.

Oh please! The word "articulate" should never be used in the same conversation with anything concerning Screamin' A Smith.

The only thing that clueless hack is good at is yelling. How he still has a job is a disgrace and shows how low ESPN has fallen.

There's a very good reason that while Fox was throwing huge money at these two, Screamin' A was thankfully left behind. Bayless is what he is, but he's a choir boy compared to Smith. And he looks to have toned down the nonsense he was charged with bringing to ESPN.
