Look, for all we know, Murray could go down on his first carry, out for the season. But that doesn't erase the facts. Any player could go down at any point in any game, that's the reality. But let's be honest about the situation. The salary cap means hard choices.
Did we get rid of DeMarcus Ware because he wasn't productive or because he was an average DE? No. The Cowboys just made the decision that they didn't want to sacrifice that much of cap for a player that had two or three good years left. If we did then we probably couldn't have signed about 2 to 5 players that are productive for us and will continue to be.
The Cowboys don't want to pay a lot of money at a position that they don't consider critical. They don't want to put all their eggs in one basket, I get that. But, again, let's not rewrite history and say the guy was average or irrelevant. he will be missed but the Cowboys will compensate at other positions, they already have.
