Well you don't wait till he's reached Elite Money , he was outstanding last year. His numbers dont tell how good he was. He controlled that line of scrimmage .

Risen was lumping him in with Ben Bass and mocking him this time last offseason. He can't change ground that much and agree with your 'outstanding' assessment. But you're pretty close to right here. He's a good, young three-tech, and getting better.

Agree 100%.

He's the kind of player you don't see the "wow" play, but it's the guy next to him and there is a reason for that. I always thought Russell Maryland was the same kind of guy.

This was good timing on the part of our FO. Glad to see we're taking care of this deserving player.

From cap histrionics of paying old players, and the arrival of Jason Garrett to walk the team through that cap/linemen crash...to sound decisions based upon healthy players being signed with talent enough and youthful to play out the very cap saving long termed contracts. That is called creative cap responsiveness, and sound projection. The defense now has two strong defensive young ends, Randy Gregory and DeMarcus Lawrence...and now Tyrone Crawford, a defensive tackle, is projecting into a future run as well. Even Hardy and another defensive tackle still have to arise to the challenge, to solidify the remaining starter positions. But the defensive front has some really strong stones to fill slots. Just as with the offensive line, they are young and a dedicated tough group.

Breaking down Tyrone Crawford's contract

IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys gave Tyrone Crawford a $10 million signing bonus on the five-year extension the defensive tackle signed Saturday.

If the Cowboys do not seek to gain salary-cap space in the future, then none of his cap figures will exceed $10 million.

Crawford’s cap number this season will be $2.828 million and jump to $8.75 million. The Cowboys have restructured contracts in the past of players to gain cap space over the years. The fact that Crawford does not turn 26 until November makes him a candidate to have the bulk of his $6.75 million base salary in 2016 reduced and the difference turned into signing bonus for cap purposes.

There are no incentives or escalators in the deal. At the time of the signing, he is guaranteed $17.4 million. His 2017 base salary ($7.25 million) is guaranteed for injury but becomes fully guaranteed on the fifth day of the ’17 league year...

And you would've signed Murray? It's funny how 1 great season changes everything, because before last year no one saw Murray as a franchise back. We all know if the Cowboys would've given Murray what the Eagles gave him and he bottomed out, we'd be talking about how Jerry still overpays for overrated players.

I like Murray since we drafted him. The injury concerns to be honest was overblown. His rookie 2011 year his ankle was roll on not his fault. 2012 he did loose big time 6 games due to an injury but in 2013 he miss 2 games due a sprain knee and 2014 no games. His injury riddle first 2 season place an image of him. When it was pay day we said this is our number look around and we will see what we can do. Decline his counter like we was broke then whale out here with our cap money. I said this before and I'll say it again. It Murray did not fumble in GB JJ would have taken care of him.

I like him. They paid him like he was on the open market. Hope it turns out well. No doubt he will be a very good player. At times he was dominant last year.

Well that shows your lack of ability to evaluate talent. Crawford is worth every penny he got. Don't understand how ignorant fans strictly base their evaluations on stats. That and what they hear, or don't hear in this case, from the national media.

People do it all the time with Romo...

Yet we couldn't afford Murray lol. It's a little bit high but it is what it is.

Why are people still talking about Murray? You wanted Dallas to pay what the Eagles did? Are you insane? Why don't you blame Murray for not giving us a hometown discount then?

We've reached the nexus of the football universe, and I'm not sure how we got here.
