Cris Collinsworth -- Jaelan Phillips is the best defensive player in the draft

The last time we had a player that questioned playing football. It was Cole Beasely and Garrett convinced him to stay. Then it was David Irving and we know how that turned out. Why even bother taking the risk? This guy gets another concussion and hes going to retire early and we wasted a top ten pick. No thank you. Im sick of drafting guys that dont like football. (Hill, Charlton, etc). Get people that love the game.

....aaaaand Beasley has played football since.

What’s your point?

Irving has substance abuse issues and straight said he doesn’t love football.

Phillips had a slew of injuries in 2018 that you’ve ignored. There’s article after article with Phillip’s talking about his love for the game this past season.

Don’t get me wrong, 3 concussions is never good and definitely cause for concern...but I also think you’d be eliminating a very large percentage of football players if that’s your limit on head injuries. He had a year + off and didn’t have issues at Miami so you’d be looking at almost 3 years concussion free going into the the NFL.

Eh, I think that's wishful thinking.

Yeah, players get concussions. Typically spread out over a long time. Three in one year is a different thing altogether.

I'm much more concerned about adding another rusher than a fat DT, but I don't think we can chance his concussion history.

That's different from injury prone.

Also, as I posted elsewhere, I have a friend who sees all UM games and he likes Rousseau better (not considering Phillips history)....although that may take some time.

I want Ojulari, so I'm biased.

But I'm still sticking to my strong gut feeling that Rousseau or Phillips will be a DC at 44.

He is going to be a steal for a team in the later first

Trams in the early first just cannot risk the injury concerns. Let him go to a Baltimore who is stacked on D and he won’t have to take every snap every game

100% would love either at 44

1 thing we got going for us is Lawrence and Gregory will allow him to not have to play a ton early on and I think that would help to limit his risk.
Non qb in the top 10 needs to contribute right away. Qb drafted in the top 10 needs to be starting by game 10.

Of course there is. Guess no players lie. lol. If he loved the game he wouldnt have considered quitting it. The guy had 3 concussions in one season and you're acting like its no big deal.

He tested positive for covid and couldn’t get examined last week in Indy...not sure what the next step for that is..
Not testing positive would seem to be the next step, wouldn't it?

LOL. Zeke also said how much he loved the game. Look at him now. Players lie dude. If you dont think they do there is no helping you.

Did Beasley lie?

How do you know Phillips is lying?

Are you that devoid of common sense to think that if you trot out some oversimplified generic claim "players (people) lie" that it somehow lends credence to your specific claim about Phillips?

Here's a question. Do you own a car?

I know when I see this I think "LIAAAAR!!!!"

Yeah. The media has been calling him out big time of course hes working out. lol. Pitts also said "hed love to be a cowboy" and wright said "we're his dream team" Players ***** the truth to get paid, whats Phillips going to say? "I hate football" lol.

Yes I own a car. Cant wait to see where you go with this. I dont know hes lying. I am saying he could be. It wouldnt be the first time a football player has lied about their commitment to the game of football. lol. Mike McCarthy. (our head coach) admitted he lied in his damn interview.

I can pull out the pink slip if you like. Maybe Phillips isnt lying. However I question his commitment to football. Just because you like the guy doesn't make my opinion any less relevant.

Of course you'd say you have a pink slip.
