Isn't this the same thing Patrick Crayton had his first or second year?

in 2005 Crayton misses "3 WR Patrick Crayton is out four to eight weeks after surgery on his injured ankle. Backup WRs Peerless Price and Terrance Copper will split time in his place. Price is expected to handle punts."

Seems as if I was right. Too bad.

I'm a HUGE Spurs fan, so that's why I figured it was PF. Tim was never 100% that entire season and Playoffs. He scored a ton against Dallas, but that's because he is a badass and played through the pain. Also, remember that Tim doesn't rely on his physical abilities as much as a cornerback needs to. He's cerebral, has a ton of moves and his as polished a basketball player as there is in the league. He can't jump anyway, so the PF didn't really hold him back. It just hurt a lot to run on it.

I believe he got 2 cortisone shots during the season. You can't just get them every week. He would feel much better during the next 3 or so weeks after the shot. The 2nd shot really helped the most. He got it late in the season and it helped with the pain for the Playoffs.

I was worried more about this till I read the post about how much shorter the football season is. That point had eluded me. I agree with it. It's much harder to run a couple miles every other night, or back to back nights on hardwood. Newman will get to play once a week on grass or synthetic grass. He will need to sprint more, but he won't have to run as much as Tim.

Mickey Spagnola was asked about Newman's foot in his "Mick's Mail" page, here's an excerpt of Mick's response...

"First of all, if the Cowboys were opening the season against the Giants this Saturday night, Newman would be playing. But since they aren't, and preseason game No. 4 doesn't count either next Thursday, the Cowboys have decided no sense allowing their top corner to possibly aggravate his strained heel. Evidently he has developed a mild case of plantar fasciitis, which is the straining of the tissue in the heel and instep. Rest is the best cure."

I was VERY relieved to read this, hopefully it relieves others as well.

I feel better reading this from Mick, usually his info about injuries, ect... is pretty spot on.

We can forget about a Bowl run if Newman is watching from the sidelines.
