Crud... Newman out two weeks... Plantar Fascitis *Merge*

If I remember correctly, Duncan said he didn't feel 95-100% until March (he was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis around october/november of the previous year. Of course, we don't necessarily need Newman to be 100% to play, but it will definitely be tougher since he's a CB.
basketball would be tougher since ur running nonstop.newman isnt.

maybe if you play on the Suns. Spurs are generally a slow paced team. Sure, they can run at times, but for the most part, they are slow paced compared to the rest of the league.

when Newman is running, he's running at like full speed and has to be making tackles. When Duncan is running, he's not necessarily sprinting up and down the court.

Until I hear or read that an MRI is scheduled or see him in a walking cast, I am not going to sweat it.

If you just sit there and relax how will all the hand-wringing get done? Come on Hos, get to work. :)

Seriously though, I don't see what all the worry is about. Put all the research together and I think we can conclude that this is most likely something Newman can play through. Perhaps it will compromise his effectiveness, perhaps not.

Do I wish T-New and everyone else on our team was 100% healthy? Of course. But there will be adversity for every team this year.

I would expect this is something we can get through without seriously compromising our defense.

Tim Duncan suffered through PF last season - but never missed a game because of it. It's something that won't heal until there's a LOT of time off, so next offseason. But, he can play through it. It'll hurt like heck, though.

Yeah, played in 80 out of 82 games and avereged 18.6 ppg (career low), 2 bpg (career low), 3.2 apg (also his career averege, but went up from the previous year), 11 rpg (at the time career low, but only .1 less than the previous season) and .9 spg (tied career high).

On the flip side, his 25.8 playoff ppg that season were his second highest, but his rebounds and blocks were pretty low by Duncan standards.

Pretty much I think the PF bothered him, but he was still able to play through it, and at a high level. Because his team was so good, he was able to take it easy till the playoffs

And the Wade did spake unto me, and he sayeth;

"Do not subject your star CB to unnecessary reps in training camp. For ye shall need him in the winter months, and he is verily already 29 years old. So, my little ones - if your superstar WR has a hamstring, shall ye not sit him? If your starting tackle is recovering from an injury, shall ye not bring him back slowly?

Aye...all this an more, shall be told unto ye - live...from Camp Cupcake."

THou shalt counteth to three, then lob thy Holy Hand Genade. Thou shalt not count to four, nor shalt thou count to two, unless thou proceedeth directly to three. And the number of the counting was three..............

Isn't this Newman's contract year? <aybe Jerruh snuck spomething into his shoe to just slow him down a little, put not put him out. 90% of TNew would cost less than 100% of TNew.

Seriously, if it is a contract year, he will play as long as the bone ain't sticking out of the skin!

PacMan = GREAT football player, game changer.
PacMan = Risk-reward. NO WAY.

This guy lives a thugs life. By choice. Things like right and wrong are too difficult for him.

I believe the reports of this being Newman's contract year were erroneous and its now being reported he has this year and next left on his current contract.

Feel free to check me on that as I'm doing it from a fuzzy memory.

Maybe he has the option to void his final year?

I don't think so. I think it was a flat out error that AdamJT first pointed out and then the local media started getting it right.

I just couldn't remember for sure if it was Newman or Barber. Pretty sure its Newman though.

That is true but the surfaces are different so that could make a difference.

Plus Duncan plays 82 games a year(pretty much every other night, plus teams that run up and down the court like the Suns and Warriors), while football players only play 16 a year.

Yeah-Big Difference

I'm sure they will put some type of support in his shoe and tape the foot. As far as pain killer the most common for this injury is asprin. Add to that you can always limit his practice time during the week if need be. Unlike Basketball you only play 1 time a week. All is all this is a minor injury and I think some in the press are making it out to be bigger than it is. Goodness knows they have not had much to talk about during camp.

For some reason, that slap down just tickled me!

Thanks Sarge

;) ..........but it's the troof.

Tight calfs often cause achilles pain and in turn heal spurs.....they both go hand in hand with pantar fasciitis. The tendon may be different, but the two go hand in hand almost always. Tight calfs can (and often do) lead to achilles problems and heal spurs and heal spurs/achilles problems can (and often do) lead to plantar fasciitis. To suggest that the achilles and problems therefrom have nothing to do with problems with the plantar fasci is simply not correct.

OK - carry on.
