I agree that he is not the guy he was in Minny because he is injured. That is why I am not pushing for him now. What he is today does not take away that he has had a good career. That was my main point.

ok. That makes sense. He did have a few good years. But he experienced a decline similar to almost all of the running QBs we've seen so far - guys like Cunningham. They are extremely effective for awhile, because that ability to move in the pocket and buy your guy's time is magic for them, and noone can really defend it. But, once their legs go, they're finished. That's where Daunte is now - and it's really not pretty.

Anyone else really curious as to what Jason Garrett thinks of him?

I know I am.

It was 167 TDs total(137 passing, 30 rushing).

He is still accurate. He has a 64.2% rate for his career. He had a 64.4% in 2005 in Minny before his injury and 60.4% last year while injured behind a bad offensive line.

I agree that he is not the guy he was in Minny because he is injured. That is why I am not pushing for him now. What he is today does not take away that he has had a good career. That was my main point.
If his mobility is shot, you can substantially drop the rushing TD contribution now. And if his field vision is dropping, that will reduce his appeal with most suitors. He may have had a good career, but that's all he's got to fall back on.

I would not take the guy over Johnson in any case.

The problem is, he's getting worse and worse. Miami had weapons to use on offense.

Uhhh, Culpepper played better than Harrington did for the Fins... and for all those "weapons", they ranked 20th in total offense, 22nd in rushing offense, 26th in yards per play, 23rd in first downs per game, 17th in 3rd down conversion percentage... they were also 29th in scoring offense...

Sure seems strange, with all those "weapons"...

You can't look back to where he was in Minnesota as a gauge, because he's not that guy anymore. His mobility is shot

Is it, or has it just taken him a while to recover from that injury??

I don't pretend to know the answer to that one... I just know that if he can get back to what he once was, that's good enough to start for a lot of teams in the NFL...

Don't forget Brad Johnson won a superbowl. He's pretty darn good. He won the QB competition against all the elite a couple years ago.

Yeah... if you just wanted to go on "decision making" alone... I would go with Brad.

I think GB should grab him. With the time Favre has left that could give him sufficiant time to get his knee and head back together straight. Plus a chance to sit behind a guy that knows a thing or two about playing through injuries and pain. Not to mention he knows the NFC Central pretty dang good. Also would give GB time to get a quality WR in there (opposite Driver) if their young guy isn't going to be that.

For us though.. We don't need him. He would be pointless here. I'm good with Brad Johnson as our backup. Reminds me of Bernie and the other guys we had sitting behind Aikman. Older guys, but with the quality to step in and not lose games for us over a small stretch if they're needed.
