Why a first round pick? There have been many Excellent QB in the NFL not selected in the first round. They just have to be good. I could give a ____ what round a player is selected

Think it was from the making of the Staubach commercial.

Your entitled to your opinion which I definately dont share.

I really dont recall the study that was done that show just how successful historically quarterbacks have been that have been drafted in the first round as opposed to ones who were not.

Look at the Cowboys
Don Meredith (chosen first with Don Perkins by the Cowboys staff in 60)
Craig Morton - 1st round
Roger Staubach - 10th Round (I dont know if he would have went in the 1st if he had not devoted himself to going to the military)
Troy Aikman - 1st Round

2004 Playoffs Quarterbacks
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Chargers Drew Brees
Colts Peyton Manning
Eagles Donovan McNabb
Falcons Michael Vick
Jets Chad Pennington
Packers Packers *(Brett Favre played all but 1 year for the Packers)
Patriots Tom Brady
Rams Marc Bulger
Steelers Ben Roethlisberger
Vikings Daunte Culpepper
Broncos Jake Plummer
Seahawks Matt Hasselbeck

Correct me if I am wrong, I dont know about Hasselbeck but Brady and Maybe Favre are the only ones that were not first rounders correct?

The data goes on and on and I dont feel like typing it all out. Yes there have been major busts but data has shown there have been far more hits then misses.

Look at who the up and comers are..Carson Palmer, Kyle Orton, Byron Leftwich..all first rounders?

Yep.

I look forward to the day I can go grab a jersey from the Pro Shop of a QB from dallas that is

A - Younger than me (im 27)
B - not a former Baseball player
C - Not a huge reach in the 2nd round
D - A 1st round pick

I know my standards are high but...errr..nevermind :bang2:
You will be waiting a long time for that to happen :bang2:

Amen!!!!

I still own, and will always own, an Aikman jersey. I would love to go buy another QB jersey for my son, but I can't....waiting for the young QB that will be here a while before I do that...been waiting a few years now and still noone on the roster.

In the meantime he likes is J. Jones jersey...hope he stays healthy or that jersey will be short lived.

I don't believe Kyle Orton was a 1st (possibly 4th?)

I read that Minny may think that Culpepper is expendable.
We interested??????

Oh no! Not this again! I'd rather Tuna go back and get either Phil Simms or Jeff Hostetler than this junk.

Sure-sans Moss may have hurt the Viqueens' O, but at the same time, Culpepper's glaring weaknesses HAVE been exposed sans Moss.

Thanks to all the triple coverages on Moss, it became THAT much easier for Daunte to find open receivers. Without him, his glaring weakness is just that-reading defenses.

Bro I really love that avatar. Our secondary, Glenn, Roy, Henry, Newman and hell even Keith are playing very well.

Makes me want to go watch that video of some of Roy's big hits someone made here called "Dont tug on superman's cape"

hahhahhahhahha

Thanx man, our entire secondary is on fire, unfortunately 3 of em are injured(Davis-broken hand, Henry-groin, Glenn, ankle) but when our entire secondary is healthy, they will be FIRE!!!!!!!!!!

We have improved our weakest position from last year, which was our secondary,

thanx for the props on mah sig

Not Culpepper, maybe Brad Johnson though. He seems much better.

Actually, I'd like Josh McCown.

I don't know I would be very happy with a Brady or Farve.......Obviously your chances of getting a really good QB go up when you draft lower and get more QB prospects to choose from. That said after the draft is over it's all how they play NOT the pedigree. We all want the same thing..a great QB, if we get lucky and get one from a late round draft choice- even better.

If y'all think Tuna is stubborn, Denny is FAR worse.

The Cards play very well when McCown is in there, but The Nutty Professor still insisted on Warner, and even Shaun King at one point.

McCown would be GREAT here.

Kyle Orton was drafted in the 4th Round?

- Mike G.

I don't know what round he was drafted in, but I'll wait until next year before I give him kudos. Something about him keeps me from putting him on my fantasy team. Has to be the mustache.

Keep improving o-line, everything else falls into place.

Ill drive drew out of town MYSELF if we can get culpepper. Never in a million years, though, will that happen.

As for all the "Culpepper is nothing without moss" crap, all QBs have bad years. He's a career 91.5 rated passer, and just had two great years back to back. I think his struggles this year have a lot more to do with other things than missing moss.

Kind of like Bledsoe's problems with a broken down O-line and Aging WR's that cannot get open...Huh?

Oh Wait.....Those things don't apply to Bledsoe....I almost forgot

Like I said before....I'll be VERY surprised to see him be walking NORMALLY by THIS TIME next year.

Tearing your MCL, ACL, AND PCL, would cause normal people to walk not normal.

If he plays again, it will surprise me.

If the reports are accurate that he tore all three of those, forget it.

Actually, I wouldn't take him if healthy I don't think.

No way do we take him He can't throw to anyone but randy. Johnson is better and has proved it on the field.
