1. Do you keep Pickens? If so, how? One year via Franchise Tag or longterm contract? What does that contract look like?

2. Do you Franchise and trade him? If so, what are seeking and who are you trying to deal him to?

3. Let's say Pickens nets a first rounder this year, giving the Cowboys three, what are you trying to do with that flexibility?

My answers: I Franchise him and try and trade him to either the Jets, Panthers or Browns. Let's say they trade him to the Panthers for Pick #19, I use one of them to trade back for a 2nd and 3rd, or, perhaps, trade him to the Jets and get back the 1st next year. Or, if the Cowboys can trade down and pick up an early 2nd plus something, they could trade the 2nd for Max Crosby. A Crosby, Williams, Clark (on a reworked deal), EZ DLine could be solid.

I think WR is a luxury position and cheaper options can be found. There are plenty of other needs.

Franchise->trade for a 1->trade that 1 for a 1 next year and additional picks this year->package next year's 1 with our own to move up for a QB.

Something like that. I wouldn't be mad if they extended him long-term. Love what he brings on the field, but this team needs defensive help. That costs money and premium picks. Use what we have this year to beef up the defense and bring in Dak's replacement from next year's QB heavy class.

Dak is being paid 30 million, so he must back it up. He doesn’t need a star WR-1 A/B. The team needs help on defense.

Keep him. Be creative with his deal and be aggressive in FA. The Eagles have it figured out as do the Rams. Get it together Jerry and Stephen. Get it done early! Well before FA.

Restructure all the deals needed to be restructured before FA. Then go sign Quay Walker (ILB from Green Bay) or O. Oweh (edge Chargers) on the 1st day of free agency. Whichever they choose, then make the draft the focus to grab the other position. A CB in the draft and maybe a safety via FA would be good too.

Do not continue to do business as usual or the same results will occur. Sign this guy early. No games. No nonsense. Then flip the script on how FA is handled. Make a run if you can in 2026. The QB isn't getting any younger.

Franchise him.
- If the sulks, then trade him.

I would look for a 2nd or 3rd this year and a 1st next year.

100% franchise him, you then see what a longer term contract looks like and if you're far off on numbers I would absolutely field offers. Then it depends on what those offers are, if you can get something like what we gave up for Amari I think that is an attractive option. If it's a 2nd and 3rd, I think you have to think about it, but with the Cowboys historical track record of many 2nd rounders over the years I'm not sure they get the players that make the impact Pickens can. I have no interest in trading him for the same compensation we gave away to get him and much rather sign him to a longer term deal.

Luxury position? Remember 2018 before we got Amari? If you trade GP, you pretty much have to draft a WR high.
THIS. What some Cowboy fans simply fail to acknowledge. We saw what happened when Owens, Bryant and Cooper were let go or traded. In all three cases the offense suffered the following year.

The offense is THE BEST CHANCE this team has of reaching a title game or super-bowl. You may not be able to turn the defense around fast enough. I'm rooting for Mr. Parker but you never can tell if lack of experience will be a problem...or not.
