Curious about George

you put some good things on here to think about. I just feel we have too many needs than to pay another WR 30 million, that can be used on other players to build this team
They can pay him and build the team.

Pickens was a choir boy last season because he’s trying to get paid. Once he gets a fat contract that will change.
Don't be so sure of that. Many things overblown. Then perpetuated by the negative nancies.

Easy awnser: 4 years, 120. Structure it with an out after two years.

If you actually want a 3 or 4 year run, you dont let Pickens walk. And you dont trade him either. 90/1,400/9 doesnt grow on trees

Dallas’ offense can function at a high-level with Lamb, Ferguson and Williams; I think Pickens is not a priority given the talent infusion needed on defense; which must greatly improve to make this team a potential playoff contender. Moreover, Pickens has demonstrated he is not a 100% effort guy, so why even pay him in the first place?

But Jerry ultimately does, as he can say no to the trade.
Sure. And Pickens is paid over $28 million for one season and becomes a free agent again. He can report to the team when the spirit moves him, without financial penalty. His pay is guaranteed and all of it hits the Cowboys’ 2026 cap.

How does this scenario benefit the Cowboys?

How did he not do anything. He can't go out there and play defense.
then maybe just score more points I don't know, do you really think another 30 million WR solves our problems let's say with a #15 ranked defense in 2026?

1. Franchise tag him with an offer of a very team friendly long term deal and give his agent permission to seek a trade with 2 1st round picks as opening compensation. I don't care if we keep him but you don't let that much talent get away without getting something more than a 3rd round pick. If he sits let him sit and tag him again next year, same deal minus a long term offer. End of discussion, don't say another word about him or to his agent about him unless its a done deal.

By helping to win games.
Fans need to look beyond all the salary crap myths. It will work itself out. Always has and always will.

Somewhere down the line, it will pay off, in was and playoff wins, or eventually a draft pick in a trade or a 3rd round comp pick.

Fans cry cap, cap, cap. As if it is coming out of their pocket. Then thy cry, Jerry don't spend the money to pt together a winning team.
As I said, they need to look beyond that.

What exactly makes him worth a first on the franchise tag when he was traded for a third with a year of control left?

There’s no trade, and we don’t have a GM capable of pulling it off successfully anyway. He’d find a way to come out behind, and eventually do something similar again.

said when the spirit hits him lol

They had a high scoring offense.
He is part of the entire puzzle to win. You can't deny how he helped. Well, one can, but that is delusional.
So you sacrifice a proven top 5, if not top 3 offense, and was the top for a while. Not sure where they ended up at. In order to TRY to improve the defense, which was injured all year.

So what is the difference with a. say, #3 offense, and defense that will be improved without Eberflus, and will be (hopefully) healthy. If they are at #20

Or a #15 ranked offense and a #15 ranked defense.
I contend if the defense was healthy they would have even been #20 to $25, they would have won 2 to 3 more games. Then most, logical fans anyway, would be thinking different.

Because his value is clearly evident now that he has had a decent QB throwing him the ball. The passing game in Pittsburgh was utter crap.
