Curious, what were you all thinking 3 years ago

I dont think this forum was around 3 years ago...not sure, but I know I wasnt on any message boards 3 years ago when Parcells became coach.

Okay, when you found out Parcells was our new coach, where the heck were you at?

Also, give some insight on what you thought this team would be 3 years from not?

Not stiring up the pot, I am curious to see if we all had the same thoughts.

The second he was signed I was thinking Super Bowl contenders in 3 years. Shame he didn't really start stock-piling young talent until this year.

After the 10-6 year and the playoffs, I thought for sure this team was destined for great things. He took arguably the worst team to ever make the playoffs into Carolina and played respectably. They didn't win, but so what, we were there again. Unfortunately it hasn't really worked out since then.

This forum certainly was around 3 years ago. I don't remember where I was at when I heard the announcement, but I do remember the rumors swirling aroud this board and then the one about JJ and BP on JJ's private jet kinda sealed the deal.

I was thinking we'd definitely be in the playoffs. Going to be a tough season if we dont make it, but next year is going to be make or break, we must make the playoffs.

I was playing Madden Online. I was in the online forum talking to some friends and he told me we had signed Parcells, which I didnt think was going to happen because I thought Jerry wouldnt want to take a seat.

And like you, I thought we would be kind of like the Eagles are now (before this year). Picked to win the division or compete for it, but as I said, technically it is true this year, we did contend for the Division.

I just didnt think it would be like this though...we need to make a "scratching head" smiley.

The rumor of JJ bringing BP in is the reason I'm on a Cowboys forum.

I wasn't sure what I was expecting from Bill but i knew it would have to be better than what we were getting out of Campo.

I believe we were all over on thecowboys.net at the time. I remember being pretty giddy and actually going out and getting my hands on Parcells' 2 previously written books, which were quite good. I didn't have time-specific expectations on championships, etc., but felt that we'd definitely be seeing a mentally tougher team than in the Campo years if nothing else.

Sometimes we have, sometimes we haven't.

I'm afraid this team is full of smoke and mirrors and alot of it has to do with the QB situation that still really hasn't been addressed. I like DB....IF we can protect him, but we have to do more trickery (Flea-flicker, fake reverse, reverse, etc.) to stay in some games.

The o-line from 3 years ago isn't any better....arguably worse.

Defense...can't complain TOO much there, but would like to see more playmakers, but the o-line needs to be fixed first....not to mention a true #1 WR...not named T.O..

In the end, I'm really at a loss for words when looking back trying to look forward.

i was excited to finally get the first real coach since jimmy johnson.

we went to the playoffs his first year here with not alot of talent.

i was feeling really good, knowing we are on our way back.................then:

quincy carter busts his piss test
we lose darren woodson
he puts testaverde as qb
he refuses to play henson because vinny gives us the best chance to win...as he puts it.
he signs and plays old worn out players who have played for him in the past.
he plays not to lose instead of to win.
he changes to a 3-4 defense


i'm too upset to go on...........we just need a new head coach in my opinion.

It was my wife's birthday and I think I got the best present.

I was on the DMN. After three consecutive 5-11 seasons, I was ready for anything.

I was happy about BP's arrival. After a 10-6 initial season, I was hysterical. I figured we were a lock for the Super Bowl by 2005.

I was also on the DMN, predicting that Dat, Dex and Zimmer would never make it to Parcells first game because he would immediately go to the 3-4. Wrong on all three. When I found out he was going to spend the first year evaluating what he had I predicted his arrogance would set us back 2 years, pretty close on that prediction.

I was at the DMN back then and I remember having a tag line "Give me Parcells or give me death". I still am ecstatic he is our coach. When I look back to how bad we were under Campo, I am very pleased Bill is our head guy.

Because we didn't have the personnel and we didn't have the cap room to acquire them.

He was an arrogant a-hole before he got here and the 10-6 just reinforced it. He said some players fooled him, hell, he fooled himself.

We still don't have the players. We are 2 LB'rs short, and a real DT short. Ferg is not getting it done.
