Curious, what were you all thinking 3 years ago

I was excited. Poor coaching was our reason for three 5-11 seasons and all the mistakes and lack of discipline we showed on the field. I knew Parcells would benefit our team in that area. I thought we would contend for the Superbowl this year and show more consistency in general. I was just suprised he didn't stockpile younger talent sooner.

After last season, I was convinced Parcells wasn't the man for us because of his stubborn adherence to old veterans. I understand that you should bring players you trust but at what expense? Do you necessarily have to start them? Can't you bring them here as depth and use them as positive locker room influences. From guys like Ryan Young to Vinny T., I realized Parcells love for veterans had as much to do with his impatience in developing youth as it did with wanting "yes" men. I knew that our core was weak and we needed to build it the right. Instead, Parcells was signing people like Keyshawn and Bledsoe who were immediate but not long term solutions to the problem.

I was very suprised by the initial success we had this season and I thought BP proved me wrong. But the recent mistakes and sloppy play on offense just reinforced my earlier prediction. While these veterans on offense were solid, they were not playmakers and that could be felt when we needed plays against our toughest competition.

I was thinking I really don't like Bill but was happy Jerry hired a "real coach" for the first time since J. Johnson. I was pleasantly suprised after year # 1 and started to have high hopes. Now I am ready for him to leave. I think Bill is too darn stubborn to be very successful anymore. When he continued playing Vinny last year after we were eliminated from the playoffs, I realized we would never go anywhere with him. Not putting Romo in Sunday after being down 35 - 0 only confirms my thoughts. I hope he hangs it up after this year and Jerry brings in another "real coach" (like Jimmy Johnson) who isn't so concerned with "the best chance to win now" that he sacrifices the future. :bang2:

I couldn't agree more!!!!

And not giving Henson or Romo a chance last year is unforgivable.

3 years ago Hutch was our QB and Campo our coach - we were off 5-11, 5-11, 5-11 seasons.

On the ol board that split I believe I called Parcells hire before it happened.... Made sense for JJ.

Its taken BP time to mold this team but he's built a foundation of young talent. We still have ills but at a better place - clearly.

We still don't have the players. We are 2 LB'rs short, and a real DT short. Ferg is not getting it done.
We weren't 2 LBs short to start this season though. We lost 2 valuable veterans.

got a point there, let's just say we have a lot to do in the off season, including QB.

The guy hasn't won a Super Bowl in 15 years, when do you quit believing he can get it done. I had a hell of alot more respect for Tom Landry as a coach but I knew he was never going to get it done again and was time for him to go. How many years did Miami's fans drink the Shula koolaid before they started throwing up? How much do these young players that were 8-9 years old when Parcells was king really buy into his "greatness"?

I'd rather fix LB, OL, FS, and K than worry about a QB this off season. We're okay with the 3 we have. bring in a 4th QB to challenge and keep the best 3, while putting #4 on the Practice Squad.

We were rocking for months with Dat out.
Fujita was splitting reps with Als all season....

We are what we are - an 8-6 team that never won SQUAT in the great Dat/Als era - agreed?

The recent issues are team wide - And as Parcells said today defensive issues were more turnovers and Skins field position starts advantagous.

This was a 9-7 team going in and we run table likely in playoffs.

If you go with Bledsoe, OLINE should be 1st 4 picks in the draft.

Naw, there is such a thing as Free Agency as well.

I also predicted JJ would hire BP on the old forum, and people thought I was crazy because they didn't think JJ would subdue his ego to do so.

If I was the Arizona Cardinals, I would be ecstatic by Parcells work here. But as a Dallas fan, we are always thinking Superbowl.

The way Parcells is running this team, I could foresee us crawling into the playoffs in each of the next three seasons while being destroyed in the first round every year. Our offense is old and I don't see BP scrapping Bledsoe, Glenn and Keyshawn in favor of developing younger players. That will just translate to respectable but not spectacular seasons. Again, for most fans, this is heaven. For a Cowboys fan, this is unacceptable. Parcells has to show signs that his teams are developing toward becoming a Superbowl contender. And I'm afraid that won't happen with his reliance on old veterans.

What about the pass rushing issues? Brunell didn't have to shower after the game-he was clean.

you ain't kidding.

I was plenty upset when Parcells was hired because to me it was like hiring Joe Gibbs...the enemy, someone I'd always hated the sight of....I knew I'd never get over that, but I was also happy to hire a real NFL man instead of another college experiment.

AFter we went 10-6 and made the playoffs with that crap of a roster on offense, I thought maybe Parcells was what we needed and that maybe he'd turn QC into a QB....I still hated the sight of him on our sidelines, and I always will, but I respect the discipline he brought to the team.

I'll still be glad when he's gone..........as long as we make a good hire.

watching brunell stand there all day while bledsoe was swarmed over was enough to make you sick.
