This is a really great draft for runners. I think you can wait until the second day to get a really good back.

Living in Boise and having season tix to BSU, here is my honest assessment of Ajayi: He has 3 down back strength, toughness and natural receiving skills. Contrary to other reports, he played behind a good offensive line, so his numbers (28 TDs) might be inflated. His two biggest weaknesses are fumble prone and bounces WAY too much outside. His biggest challenge on the pro level will be keeping it in the hole and taking the 4 yards. If he can do that, he is tough enough to get the "dirty" yards. He had big runs, but I would not put him in the Gordon-Abdullah-Coleman camp for game breaking speed. That being said, I put him in the Gurley-Yeldon-Allen camp for workhorse ability. If we don't go Gurley in first (or trade for AP), I would be fine with him or Yeldon in the 2nd or preferably a trade down to high 3rd. To make our offense work like last year, we need a dynamic and tough runner, so I would not wait beyond 3rd to take one.

I am hoping against hope that Gurley is ours in the first. Or a certain RB from the Vikings is signed.

There will be a huge run on RBs in the top of second round. I can see with our picks 27 and 60 that we could miss out on Gurley and Gordon in the first and miss out on Coleman,Ajayi and Johnson in the second

My thoughts exactly.......you are a very intelligent speciman of a human being. Those who don't want Dallas to pick a RB until the mid rounds, if any at all, and are satisfied with those on the roster, will rue the day and blame the FO at mid season when these guys show just that--------JAGs. I have always felt the the Cowboys would not have let their leading rusher and catalyst to their running game walk if they did not have a high quality Plan B replacement in mind. Either a high octane rookie or that guy from Minny. Look for them to make a serious run for him right before the draft for a mid round pick.

I would love to see Gurley in the 1st but I think he's going to be long gone by pick #27. Quite honestly with where we're picking you may very well be right on us missing out on a bunch of RB's.

So.......Ajayi doesn't have game breaking speed?

Combine #'s

Gordon -4.52
Abdullah- 4.6
Coleman- 4.65 pro day

Ajayi 4.57 @ the combine......And was 10lbs heavier than all of them.

I Don't trust Wisconsin backs. Look @ the history of draft busts......Ron Dayne, Michael Bennett, Anthony Davis, John Clay, James White, Monte Ball.

Abdullah is 205lbs...runs a 4.6......Let that sink in for a second. Too small....not fast enough. And would be a wasted pick just like Felix Jones.

Coleman....The more you study him....looks like a complementary back like Fred Jackson.

Come draft day....some team is gonna get a steal in Ajayi. And if the Cowboys think he is gonna be around come their 2nd round pick...they're mistaken.

Twitter is a buzz about him. I'd have no problems w/ Dallas taking him round #1.

Man, this group of RBs is slow.
Doesn't mean they aren't good though.
Just sayin

You could probably get him in the 3rd round.

I doubt it.

I don't even know if he will be there with our second round pick but I really don't see him lasting to our third...just don't.

But ...I have been wrong before.

I'd prefer drafting one in the 3rd like with Murray. Running backs are dripping off trees.

Look at the top 10 running backs in the league last year. Only Lynch was a first-round pick, and that was in Buffalo.

I definitely like Ajayi and would be happy with him. But I dont feel like he played as fast he timed or that Coleman or Abdullah played as slow as they timed. When you review the tape, Coleman and Abdullah never get caught from behind. And I am with you on Gordon; dont want a Wisconsin back. But I would not spend a first round pick on any RB other than Gurley...

And where did you get the Tevin Coleman "pro day" 40 time? I thought his pro day was scheduled for April 15th?

I was only addressing your idea of him falling to the third round.

Ajayi is plenty fast enough. I also do not think he will be there with our pick in the second. Unless someone huge is there at 27, I really hope they trade back. Pick up an extra pick and a pick early in the second. Use the first second round pick on Ajayi and then a solid defensive player with the second second round pick.

I really like Ajayi more than any of the RBs, with the exception of Gurley. However, I really worry about Gurley's injury and injury history. I think Gurley could be a fantastic RB in the NFL but I also think he could be a total bust. On the other hand, I think Ajayi does not have the upside of Gurley but will be a very, very solid back no matter what.
