I mean why not? He's going to be out a while, and if Dak continues to impress then Id rather keep him as a backup to Romo. He's also garbage

Not sure you can even do that while he's under contract and injured....I guess unless you pay him for the year in full.

He's hurt. Come on man. Let's wait a couple more games. the Dak train might derail or pick up steam.

This is the danger of keeping marginal guys around...they can get hurt during camp and then you can't cut them......that is why I am glad McClain is staying away....guys like DMC and Gachkar that carry a 2m cap hit break bones and then they can't leave until they get healthy or they reach an injury settlement.....

Should have been the cut at the end of last season. Already saw he had a big bag of nothing. Whenever coaches start talking about how smart a player is and all the intangibles they bring whole avoiding their actual talent or lack there of, you know they suck.

High school QBs can throw a ball further than him.

No, they will just put him on IR. Pay him because he is Linehan's boy and then cut him when he can't cut it in camp next year.
Don't they have to pay him either way? If he is cut, doesn't he get paid an injury settlement equal to his season salary or something like that? If that's the case, then there is more benefit to keeping him rather then cutting him.

There literally seems to be no reason to cut him. He's going on IR so he won't take a roster spot and he's getting paid either way.

I guess it will possibly send a message to the team not to break bones at practice, that's almost a reason.

Actually he is a FA after this year.
So he will go on IR, then will be probably not be offered a contract as FA period begins.

Also by keeping him on IR, there are usually clauses in contracts. And Dallas should be able to get some kind of cap credit by just letting him go. As I posted above I beleive he will be a FA anyway.
