Cut Maher

If the Cowboys find another kicker that's fine. I won't miss Maher. But the truth is he hasn't cost the Cowboys a game. He's not the reason this team is 3-2.

Don't try to sell me the onside kick miracle comeback to force OT, then win it, if only he'd have made that FG. The odds were slim and none. That game was lost much earlier.

I don’t think it’s signing another kicker immediately. It’s that we brought in zero competition. He’s kicking 57% this season. Teams aren’t typically ok with that and bring in competition to see what’s out there.

He’s missed a kick or XP in 10 of 21 games. Almost 50% of them

We seem content to stick with him no matter how good or bad he becomes. Same goes for Chris Jones.

I am all for cutting him...but who do we replace him with? we cut Baily, because he started to miss and had injury issues, we brought in maher, not cut maher and bring in another craapier kicker....lets have a plan in place first

also the team knew he has problem kicking from that range from the right hash...why not try and go to the left hash.....set him up that way from previous play

The last play was a Dak scramble on 3rd and 10. Took what he could get for running room

The Cowboys will likely stay with Maher for the time being because he’s probably got a stronger leg then any kicker available. That’s probably the one positive he has over the kickers that are available.

a good coach would be thinking ahead and communicate to the team for all scenarios including failing to convert....

but this was just a microcosm of everything

My only complaint with cutting him now is because that would make it seem like he was the reason we lost. It wasn't. But yeah you could've cut him in the offseason and I wouldn't have cared.

He was 25th in FG percentage last year among regular kickers and is 30th this year among all kickers. The fact that we didn't try to do something about that this offseason is a travesty..

If you aren't going to try him on a long game winning FG, then he serves no purpose.

Not to defend Maher. But I will anyways. If you look at all the kicks he makes that very few other kickers could even attempt it makes up for the misses. Even with all the long misses he makes 77%. 33 out of 43. He has made about 5 that very few kickers could make. So if you factor that back into the equation. He makes about 88%..... which would make him one of the most accurate kickers in the history of the NFL.

I'd rather have Heath kick from here on out. If our kicker is going to miss almost all attempts from any distance anyway, it might as well be funny along the way.

Holy hell. Better lock him up long term now if that's the case.

Lookout Justin Tucker, Brett Maher with his adjusted stats is gunning for your title.

If you watched that game and thought Maher was the problem you need to rethink how you're analyzing the game.
