I think Jerry needs to limit the amount of media that has access to this team. Limit it to the local guys. It is becoming a joke some of the crap that is being reported.
That's precisely the ONE thing Jerry Jones, Terrell Owens and Drew Rosanhaus [sp?] do NOT want to happen. There will be peace in the middle east before that ever happens...

I do see the media as the devil. They now just dream stuff up to make a story and don't let things like facts and ethics get in the way. Anything to create a controversy. These are NOT the good ole days. Jerry and BP are having to deal with issues created by the media basically out of control and doing anything to make a buck. Anyone who thinks they just want to be helpful to 'us folks' are engaged in poor thinking. I do have a thin skin when it comes to my team.

Pretty much every significant decision made by our HOF coach is now being second guessed by a bunch of two-bit pencil pushers. TO, Ellis, and now Bledsoe. Where will they go next to get their 'story?' As a group the media look like a bad combination of sharks and lemmings. Bad behavior run amok, and then they blame Parcells for limiting their access.

I don't think BP wants that to happen either

there's a reason he speaks to, or should I say, ridicules, the media more than any other coach

A lot of the reporters have cell phone numbers and other ways to contact many players.

If you shut down practices, they'll still get the stuff they'll need for stories -- even if a lot of it is, "said an unnamed player." Frankly, I think that could potentially start even more trouble down the road.

Bottom line is that every team must "fight" public perception -- whether it be fans' expectations or media allegations. TO obviously makes any enviornment a little more circus-like, but we knew that when we signed him.

I think we should not cut off the media, but BP is the only one that talks to the media period! IF Jerry has something to say he can schedule a press conferance with Bill present!

He has also been known to speak sparingly to the media for months at a time. I'll give Parcells the benefit of the doubt on this subject. On the other hand, Jones has always used the media to promote his franchise, in good times and bad.

Owens and Rosenhaus? No comment.

Agreed. But TO wont be able to endure a season of media.... the push buttons are right there to push

TO will *always* find a way to get his opinion out to the public.

Whether it's by writing a book. Rapping. Posting messages on his web site and ******* page. Talking to the media. Or having his own television show.

Telling the media that they can't talk to him (or vice versa) will hardly prevent him from pushing any buttons. If anything, he'd likely explode even worse.

He's going to find attention. He always will and he always has. It goes with the territory.

BP does speak sparingly to the media at times, but he holds more PCs than any other coach, BP is as big an ego-maniac as TO and Rosenhaus

I agree that a part of Parcells loves the attention. He'd never admit it, but you can tell he eats it up at times.

With that said, I don't know that I'd agree he holds more press conferences than any other coach. Do other coaches not hold daily press conferences during camp?

Parcells doesn't even show to the player conferences for signings and draft picks...

summer, do you believe that TO is the only ridiculous thing the media is doing this training camp? Hanson, Galloway, JFE, and others would be doing the same stupid stuff regardless.

no, I believe that the Dallas media would be annoying even w/o TO, but some are pissed about the negative media attention TO has brought, which they should have known would come about, like Dale said, it comes with the territory of TO

I thought it's been commented on that BP holds more PCs than any coach during the regular season?

Their job is to drum up interest in what they have to say. Sure, they'd find something to argue about regardless. But TO is an easy target, in large part because of his willingness and propensity to say stuff even he likely knows he shouldn't be saying.

Frankly, so far, I really think this entire thing is media-driven. Owens is an attention ***** (book, song, TV show, interviews on every major show), but I can't say I've really cringed with anything he's said. And I don't think it's fair to suggest he's milking this injury. Any other player and that wouldn't even be an issue (granted, TO's past behavior has led to the lack of trust in anything and everything he does).

To date, I don't think there's anything to be worried about. I mean, let's be real, the first time Bledsoe overthrows TO in a game we'll see stories and headlines pop up about how they have no communication, TO is about to get frustrated, etc....even if, still, nothing is there.

But again, we knew this was coming all along.

(TO + Parcells) x Cowboys = Ratings.

Ah, I wasn't even aware of that. I never pay too much attention to the other team's conferences, so you could be right.

Cut off the media? Are you kidding? Jones loves media attention, good or bad. His worst nightmare was when the media essentially forgot about the Cowboys during the Gailey and Campo era. Besides, this crap follows Owens everywhere and he brings it on himself. Jones knew this when he signed Owens. The media desperately wants Owens to blow a gasket because EVERYONE loves a train wreck.

You don't understand. Even if it's inaccurate information, the Cowboys name is out there and the interest in the team increases.

That's free advertising dollars you can't buy.

Just look at the NBC Sunday Night Football telecast.

They tease the halftime show using the controversy surrounding TO and Romo and Bledsoe.

You can't buy that much publicity.

Jerry is smart. He aint gonna cut off his wallet pocket to spite his pants. :)

Actually, there was still interest during those times. In the Gailey era, they made a big deal about us not signing Randy Moss. 19 teams passed on the guy and Dallas took the blame, so much so that Moss himself fell for it and harbored a massive anti-Cowboys grudge. In the Campo era, HBO did the Hard Knocks series, which was pretty entertaining. No matter how the Cowboys perform on the field, there is publicity and interest. But I agree that nothing short of a Super Bowl appearance has ever garnered as much attention as T.O. has this summer. Stay tuned.
