Our first team OL got beat by a 3 man rush, our first team defense looked like garbage, and Jay Cutler looked like Joe Montana, but it is just preseason.

At least our special teams looked better.

Why do they need an excuse? ON 4th and 4 in denver territory denver jumped offsides and gurode snapped the ball and they called a false start! IT was a horrendous call. They were on there way to scoring.

and Denver was all hyped up, they had 8 men in the box all night and were pressing outside. Romo had hurd for a TD but he just overthrew him by about 4 yards. He said after during an interiview with steve dennis that the air misjudged his deep ball and he got too much on it. He also said they played man and had they been planning on that there is lot they would have done to attack it. I.E. Just running plays, not running plays to counter the defense.

No need to panic or point fingers tonight, especially when the backups all played well. All the scrutinized players played well tonight. Bennett, carpenter, spears, adam jones.

It was a great night for bartel, hannah, choice and scandrick. I love Orlando Scandrick. The guy is a player.

I refuse to be upset about a preseason game. I reserve my upsetness for when the games actually mean something.

No excuses for the offense. They were just beaten.

I know there have been complaints about the penalites.

But the first two big ones were just terrible.

The first, on Columbo was awful...sorry....if the officials do their jobs, that doesn't happen. Columbo was protecting his guy. The play before, you saw three Denver players pile on TO well after the play was over. One even seemed to take a swing. The officials were slow on their whistles.

Next play, the same thing is happening...Yea for Columbo for protecting our guys. Better to take fifteen yards, than to lose a guy to injury.

The second call....was just crappy officiating. Brady James was the "culprit" not Tank. He did not make a late hit. He was already committed.

Romo has played poorly this whole last week. I don't know what's up with him. It's been a while since we've heard about him being sharp. He missed a wide-open TO on the first drive...and a wide-open Hurd for a TD.

I wonder if something's up with him?

Zach thomas and marcus spears were great though.

Spears does look very good, he could be ready to break through finally...

I'd definitely leave him at DE, from what I have seen in these two preseason games he's been the best DL by far

No doubt about it, he is the guy opening the lane for zach thomas to get to the ball carrier clean. It would really be something if zach thomas plays well all year because it may tell us that spears has been a victim of poor ILB play behind him.

kudos to those two, they looked very good.

Denver didn't blitz that often, we just weren't blocking well. You really think Shanahan is going to bring out anything exotic during preseason?

Romo will be fine imo. He looked sharp against San Diego. Today looked like one of those games that he has where he takes a while to warm up.

It will be interesting to see how he performs against Houston on Friday.

I didnt say blitzing, and there was nothing exotic. they were just putting 8 guys in the box.

Since we didnt and dont game plan preseason games that created a problem because there were free guys when we ran the ball.

Had that been a normal game and denver tried that romo, owens and witten would have torn them a new one. Just like laufenberg said in the boothe, simply using motion and different routes would have taken it down.

Except they were just running plays. And really the first drive the officials stopped not the denver defense.

nothing to worry about imo. If austin is ok, then I think tonight will have turned out to be a productive night because we saw felix jones show off his skill again, tashard choice and coleman showed they can pick up a blitz, catch and run and austin and bennett caught the ball.

I'm not trying to start an argument as my post was more sarcastic than anything, but you did say they played 8 in the box and brought safeties all night.

Yes they did, but it was a tool to combat the running game. JUst like they talked about all week that was there way to overcome the size difference. Preseason games are basically man vs man at each postion. The broncos simply couldnt do that in this matchup.

What is interesting is I just heard wade phillips say he thought the defense was too vanilla and wants to come after the qb's more even though it is preseason..

translation, They will go after schaub and houston on friday for the home opener. Sounds good to me.

Even still though, for me personally I am rooting for this team to have to deal with some adversity this preseason. I dont know if I am dimented or just stuck in the mindset that it will make them work harder all year.

oh and I expect houston to load up and come after us also. Friday should be fun. I am sure the houston papers and dopey writers will be bagging on pacman, tank, owens, jessica and HBO by tomorrow.

Your point concerning Romo is valid. During practice this week, he's reportedly struggled connecting with the deep ball. I have no idea if this is a recent development or if we're just now noticing it because he's playing against another team's defense in practice--a defense that doesn't leave ten yards of empty space around the receiver.:D

or like he said himself the air in that place made him adjust his throw and tonight he had too much on the ball.

Kind of missing the guy who was doing it in camp.

Seeing that spencer, canty and newman didnt play tonight and the untimely penalties I have no worries from anything I saw.

Hopefully and probably by design we will see some press and blitzing from the defense come friday. I dont think they will be flat on friday and I dont think they are just going to play straight up like tonight again.

Agreed. I think we're gonna kick some Texan butt come Friday.
