D-line review

The most discouraging thing about the D-line is that none of our veterans have played a single snap (Melton, McClain, Okoye, Brent). Outside of those guys, Hayden is the longest tenured Cowboy, and he only signed with us about 10 months ago.

We had a shot at jernigan in the 2 and but Stephen Jones assured us that we could draft 1 tech later in the draft.

Jerry didn't guarantee anything. The whole coaching staff knew the scores on a multitude of possibilities all the way down the draft. The team chose the path taken, and Jerry only held the deciding vote if conflict was insurmountable. It wasn't arbitrary, as the Johnny Football pick demonstrated.

I think they could find a better version of Hayden in the cuts if they really wanted to do it. They might have to sign a vested veteran which would guarantee their salary, but there are probably run pluggers available. They might as well get some super wide body with no pass rush skills because Hayden has no pass rush skills either. At least the wide body would be able to hold up against the run which Hayden isn't really doing.

Physically, I really think T. McClain is what they want, but obviously he's out injured.

The version of Josh Brent that we saw just before his accident would be a great addition to this defense. He was a real Bull. He wasn't much of pass rusher, but he could drive OLinemen back into the QB.

That's what I thought as well, X, and got his autograph here in Corpus Christi.

Yeah. That was my first thought when I heard BJ Raji tore his bicep: crap, we just got more competition for that vet at cutdowns.
I didn't know about Raji. My GF is a Packers fan and her favorite player is Raji.

Good job, EJ...and appreciated for your time and depth of observations. Good stuff.

How tough is that TV scheduling?

I'd love to post the picture to the description: 'hurry up, we have a run away caboose!'

Even thought Bishop has looked bad at times, I'd put him out there instead of Hayden to start the season IF no one else steps up.

Yeah, Bishop is going to get cuffed about the first part of the season but over time I think his "better than Hayden" ability will shine and by the end of the season you'll have a much better player than Hayden.

Fortunately for you, Packer-fandom, I think, is a recessive trait. If you have to have kids, they won't have to come out with the stupid cheese-heads on, which I've heard can be problematic in the delivery room.

Unless a defensive lineman comes out of college a verified stud, they just need time to get strong enough for inside fighting on the defensive side.

That's a funny mental pic.

She already has kids and they're Cowboys fans.

It just turns out we then immediately got back in the position where Hayden is starting. What I want is to splice the DNA from players like Arkin and Hayden with guys like Sean Lee so we can finally field a roster of players who know what they're doing and can stay on the field.
Um, what? lol

The Cowboys signed Hayden last February...

I don't think they do DNA splicing tests in terms of performance enhancement, do they? If they do, then strike that idea. We can just clone Lee instead so that we have a fresh one to trot out every week.

We arev in this situation because of marinelli, he thinks anybody can play at 1 in system and that is not the case,we had a chance to draft some good ones but we didn't and that decision is the biggest blunder in the off season and why he should be liable.

Marinelli doesn't acquire the talent although he certainly has input. You can only plug so many holes at one time. We can likely pick up a 1 with the cuts.

The most discouraging thing to me is just the general lack of talent. I don't really care how long they've been on the team.

This is an expansion team level DL.
