I have to say -- Micah is violent. Ware was not. Micah wants blood. Ware was more all business. I love Ware, but he didn't get the D hyped like Micah does.

Micah legitimately reminds me of Lawrence Taylor - yes kids, I saw him play. He is disruptive in a way that Ware was not.
Wow, could you use another word besides "violent " to describe a young black player...

this is so great because both have the same criticisms from this board (not clutch, only gets easy sacks when it doesn't matter, not as good as clay matthews/tj watt) and both aren't nearly as appreciated by their own fans as they should be.

Credit Parcell......he said early that he wanted Ware to be more than a pass rusher, unlike Shawn Merriman.
For sure. And Wade was a good defensive coach for Ware to build his craft with. HC? Not so much, but the man knew defense.

Parsons can still round out that game from the edge. He's been there for 4 years, but the first 3 was with Quinn who IMO sacrificed run gap control for pass rushing. Our best run stoppers were established vets like Law and Hankins, guys who've had multiple DCs and had the time to craft the run side of the game.
And, for the most part the team was ahead most games from 21-23, so it was pin the ears back and eat.

Ware. He was just as good at stopping the run as he was rushing the passer. Complete player. Micah is a pass rush specialist

Ware was better defending the run. He was always where he was supposed to be and never really fell for the misdirection. Parsons is the better pass rusher. I suppose the way the league is now, I would take Parsons but I wouldn't be upset if I wound up with either player. Ideally, I would want both.

Parsons is better! He's playing in a time where the league favors offense and you could call holding on every play against Parsons.

what a joke. The NFL has been favoring offense since the late 80's.
You do know Ware was still playing ten years ago right?
Ware got held just as much and got just as few holding calls

Exactly.......as great as Ware was (HOFer ), he had to join the Broncos and Vonn Miller to get his ring
Yep; and even way past his prime he still made critical plays to get that ring
I was so glad; I hated how Jethro had been responsible for him never getting one here

Micah is a LB converted to DE

DeMarcus was a DE converted to a 3-4 OLB.

Comparing apples to apples, it would only be fair to compare their first four seasons while acknowledging that Micah's 4th is not yet complete.

Micah is more dynamic. He can be lined up at almost any position.
Although DeMarcus was very quick, Micah has world class speed. Micah also possesses amazing football instincts.

On the other hand, unlike Micah, DeMarcus is just as productive in December as any other month, even better.

In DeMarcus's first four seasons he had five 3-sack games and three of them were in December while another was Thanksgiving.

It's a no-fault issue but, all the same, DeMarcus didn't miss a game in his first four seasons.

I quote the great philosopher, Sir Deion Luwynn Sanders....."Both".
This is a good take

If we're evaluating them as 4-3 DEs, Micah is the prototype while Ware was the Archetype.

Micah, at 6'3" 240lbs with 4.3 speed, has all of these unbelievable attributes that don't seem to hold up to the grind of a 17 game season.

Ware, on the other hand, was a tried and true 6'5" 265lb 4.6s/40y guy that. He had the archetypal build and size for 4-3 DE (or Phillips Single Gap 3-4 Under).

Put Micah in a James Harrison role and he'd be a HOF bound just like Ware. Continue on the same path, and when it's all said and done we'll be saying "Ware, no brainer".
