True dat.

My daily rec is by the Thermals -- An Ear for Baby from the seriously rocking album the Body, the Blood, the Machine
Good stuff. I've been downloading your recommendations, and plan on listening to them over the next few days. This is a great way to learn about stuff I haven't been exposed to.

Alright, here are three more. I should say that my reading week finished today, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep up the pace, but I'll do my best.

Kate Bush- Cloudbusting (Hounds of Love)- She has a great voice and this song has a very orchestral feel to it. Great video too.

The White Stripes- The Denial Twist (Get Behind Me Satan)- Speaking of great videos...

The Doors- The Crystal Ship (The Doors)- This has always been my favourite Doors song. Very hypnotic.

For today:

Blind Melon - Change

That whole album is amazing and the fact they had only the one hit is just sad. Of course it didn't help that Shannon Hoon died a few years later.

I'll kick it old school today as well. But a bit older than 'punk

Television - Marquee Moon from the album of the same name.

This one is a classic. Perhaps the finest of the "post punk" albums. There is a re-issue of this but I prefer the version without the bonus tracks.

Braipaint loves Jerry Only.

Nice.....

Not really...Old Misfits as a whole but also danzig in his solo career before he started to turn industrial.

Not that I don't like some industrial but I just like his other earlier danzig stuff with the blues/rock sound better.

I don't like Rollins' band at all, for whatever reason. Just seem completely talentless to me. Maybe I just don't get it.

But I do like Black Flag....so...whatever. ;)

Those are the two songs I like.

I think the reason that it is hard to get into anymore of their stuff is that they lack melody in most of their stuff.

The music just does not have a melodic flow and the lyrics/style does not mesh.

But...I just like those two songs because he is just so powerful on the vocals and it is not just some kid screaming that looks like he could not fight his way out of a wet paper bag.

When you see Rollins doing those songs, you know he has the energy and force behind him so it does not come across as fake.

On a side note.

Did you ever get into the older Ministry music? Industrial not punk but I still like them.

Actually I don't really care for much punk.

Nice idea.

I'll go Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - The Ship Song (Like I do for Michael Bolton, I celebrate Nick's entire catalog)

Jesus and Mary Chain - Darklands, Head On, Just Like Honey (anything from their first three)

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Upon this Tidal Wave of Young Blood (from their self-titled, self-released album - They are playing this year's Lolla)

Nick Cave is great. The Mercy Seat has to be the most intense song ever (especially the live version.)
