There actually was separation, albeit it partially because the CB didn't play it well. I assume your comment about no separation refers to the point Dak released the ball, at which time the separation had not yet occurred. But that's the way the play is designed. The QB can't wait until the receiver gets the separation before releasing the ball because that would give the safety time to get there, and also the receiver would run out of bounds before the ball got to him. The QB has to throw it earlier and trust the receiver to get past the CB.
I agree, the QB can't wait. Dak made eye contact a split second before he threw the ball. He scanned from his left to his right before seeing him.

A true Cowboys fan puts team above all. And Dak is the QUARTERBACK OF THE FRIGGIN TEAM!!! So your constant bashing is hatred and wreaks of an agenda because you are contradicting yourself. As many threads you’ve been a part of that bashed Dak, you should be the last person to say anything about a pro Dak thread. Gtfoh

Your "high IQ" doesn't grasp that hoping for one thing and thinking it will happen or that it's the case are two very different things. You're too emotional. You're allowing what you want to be to shape your reality.

You must not have played much ball in your life. Every play has a mistake made. Every scoring play is but a misread or mistake made by a defensive player. It’s all about the offense taking advantage of those mistakes. If not, most games would be scoreless. Gtfoh with that bs

This is false. This is not every play. Many times guys do everything right and still get beat.

What I don’t understand is how being happy and supportive of our quarterback is an agenda. I mean. He is a Cowboy, right? How else am I supposed to feel?

I never said being happy and supportive of our QB was your agenda. Now you just want to put words in my mouth. Like you've done with some others in this thread.

You already admitted that you started this thread just to prove to the one's who thought that Dak could not do it, that he could. That's your agenda. You want to rub it in the faces of those who may might not be to comfortable with the QB position after last year and quite frankly, you're being a jerk about it.

Agenda????

Im happy we got a nice, mid range completion for a TD in a preseason game.
And Im confident in Dak.
But I dont understand the fuss over one pass.
Lets set our standards higher....he can deliver.

Thank you! Why does everything have to be a big debate now?

Can't we all just... :flagwave:

Funny how posters will pick a specific pass to make a point either way about Prescott. I have seen good throws and poor throws but I haven't seen either consistently enough to make a call yet.

This is probably the most interesting QB situation in the NFL, not regarding a rookie. Part of it is it is the Dallas Cowboys and the other part is how he got the job and kept it.

There are those in the NFL that want him to fail, be that 4th rounder that they had him slotted as because they don't want to be wrong. Those that say "can't we believe we got this wrong" seldom are smiling when they say that. And nobody, and I mean nobody had him higher than the 4th round.

So, do some of us also feel that way? Don't want Prescott to be the guy? Take every poor throw and turn that into his game?

My memory is still good enough to recall that line of QB's between Aikman and Romo and they lucked into Romo and they wanted Lynch and Cook before Prescott. Do any of us want this brain trust looking for the next franchise QB? I REALLY hope Dak is that guy because he's overcome adversity, challenges and shows natural leadership.

But, it is still too early for me to tell and I've watched him more than most here unless you're a Bulldog. And I have seen what I think he can be but I am just not sure about that until I see more.

Even the weakest arm in the NFL can throw it 30 yards with a much lower trajectory than the pass last night.

The ball actually travelled about 38 yards. He wasn't throwing it from the line of scrimmage.

But, in any case, he had plenty of arm for the throw. Granted Dak doesn't have a cannon, but having a cannon is far from the only characteristic that can make a quality QB. A stronger arm would be nice, but Dak's arm is sufficient if he can excel at other facets of the position.

I meant a 30 yard pass as far as what is counted. All passes go farther than their distance from the LOS. The throw was fine, and nobody has suggested it was weak or anything. It just wasn't in any way an example of arm strength that so many are trying to make it out to be.

His arm looked pretty good on the TD pass.

2 check downs, 1 run, 1 30 yard pass TD, as the DB lost it in the sun and Dak is great again......DC are now in true fear of Dak's arm talents..lol...why do i have a feeling come the regular season some of you will bring every excuse in the book again to excuse Dak Tebow of his responsibilities as America's team QB.......going to be a very interesting forum the next couple of months.....
