Market value now. In 2-3 years it likely won't be. Before Wilson's "highest paid" contract, the previously "highest paid" lasted about 9 months. Too many people take the short view that Dak will be "overpaid" at $32 mil, e.g., forgetting that it will be an at least 4 year deal, and that the cap goes up every year. People moan and groan about not being able to sign players in a year or two, not considering that there will be more money available in the pot next year and the next year, etc.
Sure I'd rather Dak take "only" about $28 or so a year, but put yourself in his shoes - would you do that?
Fat chance....
Rodgers signed a four year extension less than twelve months back for roughly 33.5 million a year.
People will bring age into it but in reality Rodgers has 7-8 years left in him if he fancies it.
Yet Prescott considers himself to be worth more than that?
Russell Wilson signed his contract extension this summer. Roughly 35 million a year.
Look at his figures! He has carried the offense throughout his career and for the most part with a horrific line and last few years joke running game.
He has ten years in him if he fancies it.
Few months back Nick Foles took what 22 million a year. Superbowl MVP. He has another ten years in the league if he wants it.
Career stats
Foles
68 TDs
33 Ints
Prescott
67 TDs
25 TDs
People bring up Wentz and claim Prescott is better.
Wentz didn't exactly walk into the Prescott did in his first season!
Lane Johnson served a ten game suspension, their O-Line struggled throughout and their offense just wasn't in place.
To include Wentz' debut season as the same to what Prescott had in his rookie season (no other rookie QB has ever walked into such a dream offense starting off with one of the best O-Lines in recent history) is just preposterous and brainless.
The last two years has been more in line with what the Cowboys have had on offense so it makes sense to consider those. Both have faced adversity with their o-line etc.
Last two regular seasons
Wentz
54 passing TDs
14 passing interceptions
Prescott
44 passing TDs
21 passing interceptions
Prescott played eight more regular season games as well.
Wentz looked the likely MVP in 2017 until his knee injury.
That's pretty much were each one lies and why Wentz is worth 32 million a season and Prescott isn't.
The above are the more relevant and recent contracts and the reasons why people do not want Prescott to earn circa 35 million.
Put simply, unlike L'oreal, he isn't worth it.
